Interesting recruitment.

An Arkansas QB that Bobby Petrino covets.

Goes to Shiloh Christian HS in Springdale, the same town (but different HS) where his Auburn Recruiter Gus Mahlzan was Head Coach (Springdale HS) back in '05 with the Springdale Five (OL Bartley Webb went to ND).

According to an NWAPreps.com rticle Kiehl visited ND last year for the USC game.

He's been to ARK, AUB, KSU, ND, OKS, and UTN.

Last Fall he got an offer from Western Michigan's Head Coach Chuck Martin.

Bill Cubit is the coach at Western, I think you meant GVSU.

Does he attend Springdale or a Christian school in Springdale?

Some schools are talking free safety for this guy, too. He's a heck of an athlete.

...

He attends a Christian school in Springdale. Two different HS in the same town. Malzahn coached the Springdale (HS) Bulldogs while Frazier plays for the Shiloh Christian Saints (also in Springdale). I put the right HS in Frazier's profile then lumped the two school together. Mea culpa.

Malzahn left Springdale HS after the '05 season when Frazier would have been in the 7th grade if I did the math correctly. There's no direct coaching connection.

Springdale's a city of about 45K about 10 miles from the Razorback's campus. A bunch of year's ago I attended a daytime party in a church yard somewhere between Wesson and Three Creeks down by the "Loozeeanna" border. Arkansas is serious football country. Two women in their 50's started throwing punches over who the freshman punter was for the Razorbacks - 10 years earlier. Never did find out if it was one of their sons or a tie-in to "The Last Picture Show". I recall it was prudent not to mention any team other then the Razorbacks or somebody they had beaten.

Back to Frazier.

Last year his school opened against Evangel Christian (Loozeeanna school of note) where the Booty boys had played. Shiloh Christian won. They won all but one game last season but the opponents seem like little schools. Pea Ridge has a population of about 2300. Most of Shiloh Christian's game were shootouts 54-51 seemed scoring in the 40's and 50's were common in these games. Christian Shiloh coach and their opponent's coaches probably went to a Brey seminar on "How to coach defense." Frazier is an Athlete and can play but I suspect his numbers reflect less than average competition.

He's picked Auburn as his leader and hopes to make his decision before his season starts. He plans to enroll early.

This kid is redonkulous. He also seems like a fairly intelligent kid, at least in an interview. It would be great for us to get him, but I doubt we can pull him out of SEC country.

"I talk to Coach Kiffin and coach Ed Orgeron about once a month," Frazier said. "I believe I'll get an offer from the Trojans sometime during the spring."

USC isn't the only offer Frazier is expecting in the next couple of months.

"I am going to take spring visits to Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Auburn, LSU and Alabama," Frazier said. "The Tide haven't offered yet, but Coach [Nick] Saban wants to sit down with me while I am there, so I really think that they'll be offering too."

Texas signal-caller Kiehl Frazier visited with the coaches at TCU this past weekend - ESPN

By Gerry Hamilton
ESPN Recruiting

Kiehl Frazier was in Fort Worth Saturday for the EA Sports Elite 11 Quarterback Camp after visiting OU on Friday and TCU Saturday morning. NO mention of ND in the article.

"It was fun. I met with Coach [Justin] Fuente, Coach [Gary] Patterson and met with the quarterbacks. I didn't know what to expect, but TCU probably moved up on my list because I had a great experience down here," said Frazier, who took in the spring game from the sidelines.

...

"Probably Arkansas, Miami and Kansas State are recruiting me the hardest and UCLA just got in the mix and are starting to come on. It's probably those four schools. I've built relationships with Coach [Gus] Malzahn of Auburn because he is the first one who ever recruited me, Coach [Garrick] McGee because he is close at Arkansas, Coach Kyle Williams at Kansas State because he recruits me and today I got to know Coach Fuente and Coach Patterson and they impressed me a lot."
Trips to both coasts are being planned for the spring and summer.
"We'll probably go to Miami and Florida, because they are Florida, and UCLA and USC. After those four, I'm really not sure," Frazier said.
Finding the comfort with the chance to compete right away will be the perfect fit for the budding star.
"I really don't have a certain thing [as far as a scheme] I'm looking for. I'm just looking for where I fit, I'm comfortable and can come in and compete is what I'm looking for," Frazier said.

Arkansas, Auburn, UCLA, Kansas State, Miami and Florida are considered the early favorites.

Article says that he wasn't that interested in us when CW was still here but he is impressed with Kelly. Plans a summer visit and probably an official visit as well.

Kelly really seems to connect with recruits and their families. I'm really imressed with his ability to grab kids attention and their interest. This kid is something special and could flourish in our new system. My question is though with us bringing in so many qbs this last year, do you see any of them looking for a transfer after this year and feeling as if they are buried on the depth chart? Kelly can find talent and more importantly seems to be able to teach.

The kid wants to see the campus which puts us in good shape I believe. Very impressive kid. I also heard Matt Hegarty say that he wanted to help recruit a QB along with the rest of the O-line. That sounds really good.

The QB depth was a problem and Kelly needed to fix that hence bringing in 3 QB's but until some prove there worthiness everything is up for grabs and who know how things will pan out. Some will get injured, not pan out, not live up to expectations etc, etc.

So with that said I see him continuing to bring as much talent as he can and let the chips fall where they may.

Ed Warinner visited Frazier this week trying to make up lost ground. ND hadn't been one of Frazier's most active pursuers.

Warinner appears to be out of his base territory of OH, KS and the Midwest but he gets around, OLs Conor Hanratty from Connecticut and Matt Hegarty from New Mexico were both recruited by Warinner. The ND OLine coach is no stranger to evaluating QBs as he was Offensive Coordinator for Kansas, Illinois, and Air Force. Warinner is also recruiting QB Bubba Starling and Arkansas OL Brey Cook.

Well... I say starting putting Warinner on every recruit. Hell, he got Hegarty to recruit without even seeing him, lol

Joking aside, I do think Warinner will make/is a good recruiter if he works hard. He seems to be both a smart football guy, as well as a guy you would love to have for a cookout in the backyard.

Both Alford and he have stood out so far. Looks like Denbrock is trying to make some noise on the West Coast as well by reports that have come in recently. Kerry Cooks will be excellent also, if we can put up some W's. Looking forward to some good recruiters and some good wins.

Sorry that I got off track on this post, guys.

In reference to Kiehl, I think he has tremendous upside. (Heck, according to the opening page of his website, he doesn't even need the laces to throw the ball...Welcome to KiehlFrazier15.com) He seems to have a very strong arm, and pretty good accuracy as well. His windup is still not the fastest, but it has gotten significantly quicker, which is a good sign. I also don't think you need a tremendously fast release in the college ranks (especially just coming in).

He sounds very humble and classy in interviews. He has a good faith, which never hurts us. The one thing that could hurt us a bit is that he is apparently fairly close with Michael Dyer (the RB from 2010 class who is going to Auburn). Hopefully Warinner can work his magic with these two QBs. It would be really nice to land one of them.

Btw, Kiehl is pronounced the same as Kyle.
