New Poster - have been a lurker for a couple of years now. I am from Brockton and didn't think ND had any interest in this kid. He's very very good - was injured a bit last season - overshadowed another CB/WR who ended up signing with BC.

If anyone has questions regarding this kid - let me know. I hope to be able to contribute but really enjoy reading all insight on this forum. Thanks.

Holy smokes dude! Years? I'm glad you're not quite so shy now.

Anyway, my biggest question is how good is the competition in his area? How many 1A players come out of Massachusetts?

Maybe not years - but at least a year.

Brockton High has put out some decent talent - mostly in the 70's-80's with Mark Hartsell from BC, Anthony Comer from BC, Tyrone Pruitt from BC (2003) and a lot of others that are escaping my mind from the mid 80s.

Brockton High is the best school in MA History with over 700 wins. The talent they play is among the best in the area. That being said - there is a distinct lack of passing game up here. Teams they play on an annual basis with former D1/Pro Athletes:

Xaverian Brothers - Hasselbecks (all of them), JP Comella
St Johns Prep
Boston College High School - Just had someone commit to Miami
Pinkerton Academy (NH) - NH State Champs year in year out
Leominster
Fitchburg

Now the caliber of the competition is among the best in the state. In the 70's-80's they used to play teams from NY and MD (Dematha) but now the rules of MIAA football basically restrict teams from going out of state too much.

Albert is a good kid - good prospect at Dback and was part of the US All American Recruit Camp last month along with William Carruthers from Brockton. I doubt he's scratched the surface of his talent because of a lack of passing in the northeast. Most offenses run an I, Wing-T Offense. Hope this helps.

Do you know if he has any preferences youngblood - realizing that it's a LONG time until NSD? It's not every day you see ND recruiting kids out of MA so I don't know if they have a foothold there at all like they did in Jersey with Charlie.

Preferences -
BC (Tyrone Pruitt 03, Dominique Williams 10) - It's the only true D1 School in MA -
UConn has started to make a push into MA the last couple of years as well.

If I had to guess - BC has the inside push but then again - we have not had any huge prospects out of the school for a pretty long while.

BC has had a good hold of all Brockton grads for a while - and the one memory in my head is Tom Coughlin (was at BC in the 90s) recruiting Jay McGillis who ended up getting leukemia and dying. He still calls the family every year. I'd be surprised if he goes elsewhere - but that's a product of the quality of prospects the last few years if anything.

Got it on good word that Louis-Jean will not be considering ND. Supposed offers from Penn St and Michigan this week. Said to like to be going cross country (PAC 10) or Bama but wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at BC.

Somebody needs to tell Louis-Jean, Brian Kelly, and Irish Illustrated's Jake Brown that.

They all think Kelly spoke to Albert on Tuesday and Louis-Jean was offered a scholarship AND an invite to ND's Jr. Day. Let your "source" know that Louis-Jean also accepted the invite and will be on ND's campus on March 20 for Jr. Day - on his own dime.

Just heard about this kid on Rivals today. Good size but would like to see a highlight. CB's are hard to evaluate though

Good he'll be at Junior Day - still highly doubt it - but would love to see it. Will let you know if I hear anything else on my end.

Just a bit of information for everyone - Brockton High has just scheduled their last game of the year and are going out of the Northeast for the first time in at least 15 years from what I recall. They are hosting St Peters Prep from NJ. If you look through the recruiting profiles, RB Savon Huggins plays at St Peters.

Game will be held sometime in November. Preliminary agreement, but will be good to see 2 potential ND recruits playing about 2 minutes down the road from me.

By the videos/reports, Huggins looks like he could be real good. St Peters is the same school that had Will Hill if I recall correctly.

Made it to ND's Jr Day and was impressed.

Irish grab Louis-Jean's attention by Jake Brown IrishIllustrated

Albert Louis-Jean made a point of attending Notre Dame's junior day, which meant a 13-hour drive from Brockton, Mass., with his family. Consider it a successful trip. The Irish coaching staff made a strong impression on the cornerback after a series of tours and conversations. It left the 6-foot-1 defensive back thinking about Notre Dame in a higher standing.

Haha - I can only speak of what I hear. As long as I've been around here, if it was a D1 kid, he'd be going to BC. Then the Irish had impressed on Jr. Day. From my discussions, I hadn't heard Miami in the conversation other than "Got a scholly from the U". Must be the documentary that forced his hand. :frenchy:

InsideTheU.com reports

CB Albert Louis-Jean (Brockton, Mass.) made his pledge to sign with Miami-FL public on Wednesday. He previously held a silent commitment.

The ESPNU 150 Watch List talent also had scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Penn State, UConn, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Syracuse, Maryland and Boston College.

I always liked Miami and I knew that but I kind of wanted to look at a couple more places (before I could commit),Recruiting was starting to pick up a little bit and I just wanted to get it over with right now.

His last sentence in that quote tells me that teams are going to continue to recruit him and he's going to continue to at least listen. Through my years of listening/falling for it, the "I just wanted to get it over with" reason usually means they will be open later on. Bank on it...

He has a whole year to meditate on this. I think, being a young man, he gets interested in other programs and keeps looking for where he is going to end up. I wouldn't say this is shut yet.

No links - just hearsay from a couple of people around the football team - he's still heavily thinking about BC.

In their last game - Brockton lost to Xaverian in 2OT - Louis-Jean looked good - but wasn't as fast as I had thought - he's listed pretty fast and there were a couple players that could def. keep up with him - thought he was going to be quicker. He was very good in coverage - don't think he was thrown at once all game.

I have coached Albert in a few camps and got to know him some. Its not that i would not consider him an ND guy (RKG), I just wasn't surprised when he picked Miami.

One of his teammates and close friends, Dominique Williams, is a freshmen DB on the team. My guess is that Dominique has been up for a few weekends and got to taste the lifestyle of the Eagles. On top of that they are probably promising early playing time. I still think he stays Miami.
