Says he is being recruited the most by Penn State and Oio State. Wants to go to a school that uses the TE and likes what he sees at ND.

Havent heard much about him since the coaching change, it shouldnt hurt to much as he wants to play in an offense which throws to tight ends. Loved ND under Weiss, so hopefully hasnt changed. There is a premium article about him on scouts that came up last nite if anyone has a scouts account

Triple it and you got a deal. LMAO.

The football in the are is not high caliber, but a few years back, there were brtohers from Oil City HS that went to West Virginia and had a good career there. I will catch a few games this year and check this boy out.

I'm not bending on the swag thing tho.

You stand rigid on the swag. Empty but rigid.

If you pan out, I'll speak to Junkhead about giving you some inside tips on Sportsbook Bets.

Woot Woot!

Listen to this:

Touted Midwest tight end Ben Koyack reveals some favorites
Junior Ben Koyack (Oil City, Pa.) told ESPN affiliate Web site Bucknuts.com, "If I had to, I'd probably put Penn State, Ohio State and Notre Dame at the one spot, and Pitt below them. After that everything is pretty much open."

"With Penn State and Notre Dame, I know Brian Kelly was saying they'd have me split off and that's what I like. Penn State definitely uses the tight end. Ohio State has just been a school I like and they've been recruiting the heck out of me. They're all pretty close so that's why they're at the top right now."

West Virginia, Boston College, California, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, N.C. State, Wisconsin, Duke and Maryland are among Koyack's other offers.

He caught 35 passes for 743 yards (21.2 average) and six touchdowns in seven games as a junior. Koyack missed the end of the season with a knee injury.

It sounds like we are definitely back in the running, with a legit shot at him - at least early. Great news to here... again, early.

I think that how we use Kyle Rudolph this year will be very important with Ben

Catching Up with Ben Koyack | Eleven Warriors

by Alex ?

3/3

This article is primarily Q&A written by a Buckeye website.

Asked for his Top 5 or 10 he responded:

I’d have to put Notre Dame, Penn State, and Ohio State all at the top, and then have like Pitt, Florida, and Oklahoma down near the bottom. But there’s still not a ton separating any of them.

Well that's more than 5 so I'm not sure where Pitt, UF and OU fall besides behind ND, PSU, and OSU. I don't find a UF offer for him despite them making his short list.

Asked about taking Official Visits he said:

I’m not sure if I will take them. I’m planning on committing before senior season. If I don’t, then I’ll take as many visits necessary to make the right decision clear to me.

A preseason committment strikes me as beneficial to PSU. He knows how PSU uses the TE but not if Kelly uses ND TEs as much as Weis did nor if Tressel will ever use the TE. Tressel promises him he'll work the TE into his offense. Yeah, and Weis promised to "Pound it!". I think it would enhance ND's chances if he waits at least for a couple of game to see how effectively Rudolph and Ragone are used and whether Kelly comes out of the gate on a winning streak.

I'm sure other coaches are telling TE prospects that ND his loaded at TE. They may not be by the time Koyack sees a Div 1 field. Ragone is in his last season. Rudolph could go early like Tate. Eifert hurt his back in HS and missed last season. Surgery has been ruled out and he's dealing with the problem though rehab. Color me skeptical. IF Eifert's back doesn't mend that could leave ND with one TE on scholarship starting the '11 season. Heggie could be a fallback TE but nevertheless ND could well be thin at TE affording Koyack early PT.

Jake Golic. On paper, yes.

Ragone also has 2 years left not one as I wrote earlier, if his knees hold up.

And Roback is more likely than Heggie.

PSU recruiting spotlight: Ben Koyack a rare talent - The York Daily Record

By FRANK BODANI

It isn't enough that Ben Koyack may be the top high school tight end in the nation.
He has other things to do.
Like how he earned the starting shortstop job on the varsity baseball team at Oil City High as a 6-foot-4, 205-pound freshman.
Or how he qualified for the district track and field meet as a sprinter and the state meet as a javelin thrower.
There's also his straight-A's report card.
And, best yet, there's his music.
...
And yet his musical endeavors still receive a chunk of his time. He started playing the trombone in the fifth grade, is proficient on the piano, has a sweet singing voice and now plays the euphonium, which is a small tuba. He was composing music on the computer when he was in fifth grade.

Mom's a music teacher and dad, brother, and sister all play instruments.

I'd like to see him play with Brian Kelly conducting.

Here's a nice article on him by tharinger.com:

Ben Koyack

Good to know we're still in his top 3 (which is fluid). Says we're getting a visit, and he told ISD that he'd visit ND for the spring game...
