Plays for a Jesuit HS in Missouri. Made First Team All-State as a Soph.

Mizzou and most of the Big 12 are players. Rivals lists him with an ND offer.

DJ Hord and John Teasdale also were recruited from Rockhurst High School (Catholic, like bgif said) in KC just FYI

So is he a DE or a TE? Thread title and position listed in bio don't match is why I ask.

Good eyes. He's DE who's played TE but he's an All-Class All State DE. I'll correct the title to agree. Thanks.

His high school is a Kansas powerhouse that usually plays against teams Texas and other states b/c they hammer local competition, according to my Missouri friend. They always churn out good football players...

Ya I live in K.C. and they are the cream of the crop....routinely go out of state for better competition, and still wax people because they typically handle their normal business with ease.

They are always a solid team but they dont dominate with ease. They are for sure a top 5 team in MO every year. Im pretty sure Rockhurst only made it to the quarters this past season. I actually went to school in STL and so I will be the first to say, im proud to let it be known that KC schools are not golden.

As for the athletes these schools put out...SOLID. The big playmakers on Rockhurst every year typically transition to the D1 level as good players. Id be stoked if he signed with ND because the athletes at Rockhurst are outstanding young men with great potential year in and year out.

You are correct dboe, I might of exaggerated when I said w/ ease....but aside from Blue Springs who did beat them in the quarters they beat every team they played this year form Missouri. There other two losses were to a Colorado team, and Hutchinson KS who has one 5 state titles in a row, and produced several d-1 kids this year.

MISSOURI POWERHOUSE, not kansas, we from Missouri frown upon people mixing up the 2.

Damn, my bad...my buddy would kill me if he saw that I mixed them up. You guys are friggin' very territorial out there! He went to Bishop Miege but he lived in Missouri, and he's a Missouri boy through and through (HATES the Jayhawks).

For the last two years, Sports Illustrated has chosed Rockhurst H.S. as the fifth best athletic program in the nation. Link for last year - 2008-09 top 10 high school athletic programs in the United States - More Sports - SI.com

From 2000-07, six of the eight Mo high school football championships were won by KC schools - either Rockhurst or a Blue Springs school. The Rockhurst-Blue Springs quarterfinal would usually determine one of the state finalists, usually the champion. Hazelwood (St.L) has won the last two, with Blue Springs second this year (winner over Rockhurst in a very tight contest, though Rockhurst dominated their regular season game).

Tom Freeman (ND OL '86) went to Rockhurst, as did his son, currently on the Irish football team. Tony Temple (Missouri, '08) was a star back at Rockhurst.

Despite the fact that Rockhurst is located on the State Line with Kansas a stone's throw away and that it draws students from both states (or maybe because of it), the Border War is quite alive.

Dan would be a great addition to this class and to the Rockhurst-ND tradition.

A terrific athlete. May become Rockhurst's only 12 letter athlete in their history.

Early favorite among ND, Okla, Nebr, Mo, Kansas, KSU, Ill, Wisc is Mo.

Sooners snare three-star TE Dan Tapko of Rockhurst
Highly-recruited 6-foot-4, 225-pound tight end Dan Tapko of Rockhurst (Kansas City, Mo.) has pledged to Oklahoma for the Class of 2011. Among others, he was also offered by Notre Dame, Illinois, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

Another versatile athlete facing dwindling numbers at ND. Koyack filled the need at TE, and DE/OLB filling up. In a different year ...

He made some trips in April to UM, NU, OU but his recruiting seems to have been low profile neither Rivals nor Scout have a writeup on him since then.

He joins Max Stevenson, another ND offered, high ranked TE (Rivals #10), at OU.

Exactly. I hope it is something that allows him to be healthy enough to play in the future, but at the very least, allows him a long productive life even without football.
