Per the Louisville Courier-Journal:

After helping Highlands to the Class 5-A state football championship earlier this month, Austin Collinsworth talked about the good relationship he had built with Brian Kelly. That was when Kelly was still at Cincinnati.

On Friday, that relationship paid off for Kelly at his new school as Collinsworth made a verbal commitment to Kelly’s new school Notre Dame, according to Scout.com .

A U.S. Army All-American Bowl participant next month, Collinsworth finished the season with 1,528 yards rushing and 23 touchdowns in 11 games. He missed four games during the season with a broken thumb. He averaged 8.7 yards a carry.

This will stay here as to show up on the front page. The discussion will continue posting, I'm sure, on the thread of which you speak.

this guy is a 3 star? if so, I see Kelly is doing the same thing at ND that he did everywhere else - getting those 3 star recruits. is he being recruited as a Safety? at 178lbs?

Cincy players, are not ND players...

Stop looking at just the ratings! For goodness sakes, Michael Crabtree wasn't even ranked by ESPN and look at how he ended up!

As for his size, I admit that he isn't the biggest guy out there, but he's a 17 year old kid, and I'm sure he can put a few pounds on like almost every single recruit does between high school and college. Watch his tape and you'll see he plays exactly the way you'd think ND would want him to. He plays rough (though not dirty) and never gives up.

Get a grip dude. I don't think Collinsworth will be the first 3 star recruit to play for ND.

David Bruton was a 3 star recruit....at safety.....at 180 lbs.

I say there are threads on each of ND's 2010 Commitments and Recruits. Feel free to discuss those recruits in their profiles. You can discuss general recruiting topics in the Recruiting Forum. If you don't see a topic that covers you interest, start one. If there's one there already that does, use it.

Cole Marcoux has a current thread.
