According to the SB Tribune Randy Hart and Brian Polian visited Martin Monday night. Sounds like we are interested.

This class is only a couple of the right guys away from a legitimate top 5.... imagine that carrying in a great hire...

Steve Wiltfong from ISD had extensive conversations with Chris and his family last week, and he thinks the Irish have little to no shot here whatsoever, from what he and his family said. Steve wouldn't go into details (I think for confidentiality reasons), but it seems like Chris really soured on ND (from everything I've read on him, I wouldn't be surprised if it was because of our crazy fans who have hounded him on facebook and other places), and he's not even considering ND at this point.

Maybe Polian can work his magic here, but in my mind Martin will never suit up for this Irish...

we'll still push.. honestly though, after Donald, Trattou, Hunter, and now this I expect the Irish to lose EVERY SINGLE impact front seven guy they look good at landing until the kid signs the dotted line... if we are snake bit in anything right now... this is it

Interesting you brought up Chris Donald...he's running fourth string defensive end for Tennessee. Ben Martin...running third string. We REALLY wanted Lorenzo Edwards at linebacker (rated in the top five) and he hasn't even played a meaningful snap for the Gators after the completion of his junior year....rankings are out of whack....common knowledge, I know.

nah, USUALLY the ratings are dead on... SOMETIMES they are out of wack... Edwards???... saying you haven't played a snap for the gators on D yet is almost a compliment they are so loaded... Ben Martin?? Wow that's one I haven't thought of in some time, you'd think he'd see some time at Clem...

I would imagine Brian Kelly's (assuming he will be the hire by this weekend) first recruiting stop will be in the home of one Mr. Chris Martin. If Kelly could reel him back into the fold with the Nix commitment it would be a huge get and a feather in the recruiting cap of Kelly. Martin still has to be a recuiting priority.

Martin did an interview with Rivals after he originally said he would consider other schools. He brought up the Facebook thing as being really disturbing and really put him off considering he had not even visited another school. To this day you still read posts from guys saying to hell with Martin or callimg him traitor and those are some of the nicer posts on Rivals boards. There are some crazy fans out there who forget this guy is only 17

Later Chris and his dad talked to some of the rivals guys again after he decommitted. It was their belief that the only way Martin would reconsider would be if ND hired Stoops, Meyer, or Harbaugh and that is it. I think his parents still like ND but it has to be his choice in the end

I said in an earlier thread that nobody should be bashing these young recruits. They are kids, and we all should be helping instead of hurting ND. Always help, never hurt. Lets get together and make sure kids want to come here because of the loyal fan base, great school, great tradition, and great future.

Go Irish--praise the kids that want to be part of the Irish Family!

yeah I can't remember a player that talked so hard about being a member of a school's family and such and then not even go to that school in the end...

I don't wish him all the best. He made a commitment to early and wasn't man enough to stick by his word. I hope Cal does terrible, has loosing seasons every year he attends and ND wins BCS bowls and National Championship(s), at let that decision haunt him forever. That's just me, but hey, atleast I'm honest!

Go IRISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you feel the same way about Tailer Jones, Chris Badger and Louis Nix?

He's a kid... whatever choice he makes... hope it works out. I have kids older than him and every time they go out the door - I worry, why would I hold CM to a higher standard?

His mother talked to ISD, and he's solid to CAL. She said that when he decommitted from ND, she wanted him to come home. Cal was the perfect fit for them because of its proximity and the quality of education (as long as he stays away from the football players' classes LOL).

I'm with you guys...as long as it wasn't SC. Oh, and the FL dream fell apart with him once Strong and another coach left their positions. Hopefully other defensive recruits feel the same way...
