I was comparing the possibility of an ND student trying to sway a student athlete to transfer to ND. the situation Tennessee is facing right now: "student hostesses" showing up to high school recruits' games with signs. NCAA is sniffing out problems in that the girls are seen as UTN boosters/ reps
I'm guessing the situation is different because Robinson is already in college, but my gut tells me the NCAA states somewhere that clausen2kamara could be seen as an ND booster, etc.
In any case...I'd be interested to see what happens if Gerell came to ND

NCAA has specific rules regarding contact of
recruits by representatives of a university.
Students, faculty and employees are representatives of the university.
Student hostesses have a greater responsibility as they are designated representatives of the university by a university assigned title in a university sanctioned program. Fans can be deemed boosters but it's not automatic like the student/employee.
Merely being an internet fan is not a university representative unless thre is some other relationship than merely being a fan. Dunbar was deemed a UND representative by the NCAA for a $25 membership in the Quarterback Club which ND disbanded as a result of that tenuous connection. The $25 was used solely to defray the cost of QB Club mailing list expenses.
In general it's best to avoid contact with recruits despite how cool such contact may make you feel. If you have doubts over such contact contact the UND NCAA Compliance Officer in the Athletic Office.
Student athletes or their parents can contact other schools to explore a transfer. The quote attributed to Kelly "You'll have to chase that on the other end" could mean many things, such as, would ASU allow him to transfer to ND, or would ND Admissions accept him as a Junior or Sophomore. Regardless Robinson's already used 2 of his 4 playing years.
