It looks like he might end up coaching the Bowl Game.

When the next guy takes over, should he be retained on the staff?

I do like the guy.

Totally up to whoever is coaching next year. I don't know why they would keep him. Guys might like him - guys like CW.

Why would we even want to keep him? The DBs have been one of the biggest disappointments on the team this year.

Even some of the best CBs will get b urned one on one when the LBs are blitzing all the time...

It goes beyond the defensive backs, I think. Corwin is viewed as a potential head coach down the line, and is a guy who will most definitely bring enthusiasm and motivation to a team. Remember, Corwin is kind of in an awkward position in the coaching staff right now - his hands may be a little bit tied. He has a great title, but does it carry any weight?

I am not saying the next coach will keep him for sure, but I wouldn't judge him solely on the performance of the defensive backs this year.

He's the DBs coach, and we are not supposed to hold the play of the secondary against him? Seriously? Weis is going to get fired because of the defense, and we shouldn't hold the failure of Corwin Brown's primary responsibility against him?

The only thing I like about Corwin Brown is his energy and enthusiasm.

When he was defensive coordinator, we had a decent secondary that could actually hold their ground once in a while and not rely on a bad pass or a dropped ball to end a drive. However, we were gashed in the running game. Now that his primary duty is the secondary coach, we're getting torched all over the field.

No, he will probably leave anyway down the road in a year or two. The defense has been a huge problem area.

I'd hope so, but that would be for the next head coach to decide. I still think that he adds something to the team .... his drive, recruiting, his potential as a leader ....

He doesn't look to be any more, or less, involved in recruiting, than any of the other coaches.

As for his potential as a leader.........he leads the Secondary. Not exactly a great resume for a position of increased responsibility.

Corwin Brown is highly regarded for his recruiting ability. Go out and google Corwin Brown recruiting. You might be the only person in America who doesn't know this information!

Yes, he's enthusiastic.
Yes, he's a recruiter of note.
Yes, he had a cadre of veterans.
Yes, he had a Secondary ranked in the Top 10 Preseason.
Yes, some day he may be a head coach.

I'd be happy if he was a good position coach - now.

He was a Position Coach this year and his Position had the two most maligned players on the team. His players seemed to make more mental errors and have poorer fundamentals.

I'd be suprised ifi he was retained.

Right off the bat I can tell you he played a prominent role in recruiting Michael Floyd.

According to Rivals, Michael Floyd was recruited by Rob Ianello. Rivals lists multiple recruiters, if more than one was involved. For instance, Jonas Gray was recruited by Mike Haywood and Corwin Brown. There is no mention of Corwin Brown recruiting Michael Floyd. You might be the only person in America who doesn't know this.

I might have been a little more suspect that Rivals certainly doesn't always get things right, if your response hadn't been so condescending.

I just looked that up....thought I remembered articles about him being prominent with Floyd but I was thinking about Jonas Gray....who was at the time a big signing, too. Of course that went by the waste side by he's signed his share of four and five star recruits. It just hasn't worked out. I say you make the guy the recruiting coordinator.

You know what else I want to say? Thank You. I always try, when it come to non-opinion based matters, to use quantifiable statistics and reliable sources to dispell some of the truly moronic notions and flat out lies I see posted here. I always hope people, when their incorrect notions are dispelled by fact, will say "Oh, thanks. I really thought it was this way but it is not".

Well, we all know that never happens. But, I'm grateful for you for calling bullshit and forcing me to back up my assertion. I couldn't back it up, I was wrong. Thanks for setting that straight!!!

Recruits always mention Brown in interviews, he seems like hes one of the better recruiters on the staff. Also, he was huge in getting Hughes here (Hughes committed very shortly after Brown was hired I believe, and cited Brown as a big reason why he committed.)

If the new coach wants to keep him he has my approval. CB is a 3-4 guy who had to accept a demotion to a big overrated name. My guess is he will go try to save Mike Haywood at Miami Oh.

I think they brought him up the ladder too far too fast. Probably due to not knowing his coaching role after the Tenuta hire, I think his coaching the DBs has suffered greatly. If he wants to stay here, he needs to put his focus on coaching up the DBs. We're back to Davie and Willingham era face guarding which I hate! This said, I want him to keep on recruiting. Ultimately, all this is a judgment call for the next coach.

I have nothing against Corwin Brown, and wish him luck, but the next coach simply cannot keep any of the staff on the defensive side of the ball (except Bryant Young if he's still there, but he's just a grad assistant anyway). They need to clean house. Corwin will get a job as a DBs coach in the NFL in about a minute after being let go. I still think he could go on to be a solid head coach one day. But right now, the karma's just too bad on that side of the ball for any of the coaches to be retained imo.
