He was rusty and I was being an idiot and too harsh on him. He improved before his injury. Hopefully he is okay.

He isn't rusty, he's inexperienced as a college QB. That said, we all say things too quick in the heat of the game, no biggie.

I say some stupid things. I can admit that. At least Crist proved me wrong like he heard me and had a vendetta with that strike to Goodman.

Has the talent for sure, needs the experience of running with the first team. If jc does choose to leave(god I hope not) he will have all spring ball to run the squad and maybe he can do what Jimmy did and have them all out during the summer. It really seemed to help. He was the leader of his class and created a strong bond between all the recruits that year.

I think Crist can be special but he needs real game experience.

I hope he isn't injured to bad! Lets hope its not to bad!

If Clausen decides to leave and Crist is out for lengthy period of time we may not have a QB for spring football....

YES!!!!!

i hope he is ok because we need him to back up Jimmy.

This is why we took 2 QB's this year.

He was shakey to start but threw a strike to Goodman. I llok foreward to seeng that in the future many times

That throw that he threw to Rudolph on the run where the defender deflected it was an absolute rope. I mean he winged that thing. The guy made a good play on the ball. I thought he could have lofted it. But that arm strength is definitely there. And personally that might have been the best throw a ND QB made on the TD pass to Goodman. As far as execution wise. It was picture perfect. Damn I'm excited about Floyd coming back though. I just thought about that while I was typing. He looks like he wants to jump in every damn week.

That throw was so perfect that I think it took Goodman by surprise because he really didn't even have to catch the ball it stuck to him...Like what I saw. Hope Christ is ok...Sure we will hear more.

I'm not worried. I think DC will have a different mindset when he's running the offense. We goes out now, it's only when ND is up big and CW is going to be a little more conservative on the play calling. When he goes out now I think he's dealing with a lot of nerves and excitement. By the time he's running the offense he'll have 3 years of sitting back and learning the offensive and improving his skills. He was a 5 star recruit for a reason. I'm not worried, I'm sure he'll be another great QB to play for ND when his time comes.

I'm pretty sure he's fine, it's Crist I'm worried about

I think that nerves played their part in regards to Crist and his first couple of passes, the one to Goodman was on a rope though, IMO, he may have a bigger arm then Jimmy, I bet Floyd will be licking his chops next year. (not to say he isn't already)

Worried about Crist?

Worried about Crist?

Hell yeah I'm worried.

until his TD pass, it looked like he was throwing a bunch of 0-2 pitches out there.....low and in the dirt.

My confidence is Clausen shows when crist is on the field. I've said a couple times already, but I get '07 flashbacks when Crist is on the field. I dont like it at all.

I dont have anything against Crist, but Mr. Clausen makes everything work with this offense.

Also with Clausen out of the game, our on-the-field leadership takes a serious hit; Focus and direction are in question when Crist is on the field.

Just dont expect a 9:1 TD to interception ratio because Crist is gonna throw his share of interceptions......I just hope its in 2011.

Crist looked nervous at first. Im sure he would have played better if he hadnt got hurt. The arm strength is really good on him, better than Jimmy. Crist will throw picks. He has that Brett Favre thing where one moment you think WTF are you doing, the next your jaw drops in amazement

Crist will be fine if Michael Floyd is on the field in 2011, when he gets his first full season as a starter.

Dayne Crist will be ND's 3rd 3,000 yard passer in a row. Book it.

It was also pretty awesome seeing the footage of Crist and Floyd hooking up for a TD in the AA game

I thought it was funny that Dayne didn't even step into his throw and still threw it 40 yards down the field. Did you notice that?

He had a good pass play last night, but the Washington State coach did say after the game that

is a different team without Clausen, meaning they aren't as effective on offense........

He also wasn't playing with 1st team offense...put him in there for a full game and he'll show why everyone wanted him.

I really like what I've seen in Crist, to include his sideline enthusiasm and listening in on everything. ND will be in good hands when he finally starts. He seems to have more quickness, versatility, and a stronger arm than Jimmy, but it will be hard for anyone to be as accurate as Jimmy. Crist reaks of confidence.

I felt so bad for the guy when he got hurt. He had almost gotten away from the guy. My heart sank for him. I wish him a speedy recovery.

Christ looks good. I am confident in him next year if Jimmy decides to go into the draft. He needs work but an entire off-season and I don't think we will miss a beat on offense. He clearly has the skills and presents a running threat as well. He looked shaky at times because he hasn't gotten the same time and attention. Once he is named the man he will develop into a stellar quarterback.

Hard to worry about Crist when all CW does when he's in the game is make him hand off. It's hard to get a good read on a QB when he's completely and totally handcuffed.

Hancuffed in the sense of being another Jimmy. But he did get his feet wet, led the team to a touchdown, and showed his talent, which might be different than Mr. Clausen's. He can run, pass, block, cook, lead, mow the lawn... I really like this guy.

And I really hated seeing him getting hurt. I did not watch a single replay. I knew almost before he went down that he was hurt.

Can we please stop spelling his name Christ? If we had Christ at QB, we would be 8-0 and He would be a Heisman favorite. ESPN would still not have Him ahead of Tebow, but he would be up there nonetheless.

Disagree, Christ would be too controversial to be a favorite.

I feel like I owe everyone an apology for jinxing the poor guy with this post. Crist showed the potential against WSU, and then . . . disaster! Well, here's to a fast recovery!

Amen brother. What are the odds a back-up QB gets such a terrible injury? He'll have his chance to shine...

Perhaps you could start "Are we worried about Stull?" and "Are we worried about Luck?" threads while you still have your mojo working.
