You might not graduate, but they'll always keep you eligible

This is a classic line from the movie, "The Program", which was clearly based on FSU. And it certainly fits in this situation.

I had a friend that idolized "Latimer" from that movie. Eventually an intervention was needed.

Wanna know how to get out of this? Heres how you get out of this, along with 100 other things at FSU over the years:

"aw shucks, gaddummit, you cant skin a possum with a pocket knife, aww shucks, school days, fool days. I aint in the daggum classroom y'all, I just coach the football and make sure they aint out chasin' daggum skirts all night"

Media: "hahahaha - oh hes so affable and down to earth, hes grandpa, lets just forget about it"

Let's don't overlook the upside. If they show enough talent to get to the NFL, there's a chance they won't end up on welfare like the other millions of Americans who read only at a 2nd grade level.

How many of those million Americans do you see going to college for free, much less going to college at all?

Um, none? Just having some fun friend.

Hey, how many of those kids reading at a 2nd grade level were going to high school for free? All of them?

This only came about because Myron Rolle graduated....his grades were the only thing pulling that curve up. FSU needs to be looking for their next Rhodes Scholar to avoid this type of publicity.

Guys,
This is actually pitiful. When you think about it seriously, this gives good evidence that these kids are merely pieces of meat to some schools. Recruit them, keep them eligible and when football is done they are tossed aside like yesterdays trash.

With these types of educations and the fact most do not make it to the NFL, where do they end up?!? Reality, is back in the same bad situation from which they hoped this scholarship would get them out of forever.

I do not blame just the University, but also the NCAA. If you are going to make Billions and billions of $$$ off these kids, you should be obligated to see that they get atleast a basic college education.

If I were the NAACP or other minority organizations, the NCAA would be right in my cross hairs because the majority of the kids suffering because of this lack of educational effort are african american athletes.

Kudos to ND for seeing that its student athletes are actually "students".

Sorry Bobby, but you time at FSU should be done. If you are representation of what is good about college football, then that is a travesty!!

I'm surprised that they have ANY players that can read above 2nd grade level. Hey, it's Bobby "whine bag" Bowden leading them, so what do you expect? I'm still pissed that his crying, whining, piss-moaning stole a NC from the Irish in '93.

Think I should bring up this article to the FSU fans at the bar?

Only if you have a "Cadillac" health insurance policy paid in full.

You could use polysyllabic words to bring it up. You'd undoubtedly be safe in bed by the time they figured out what you were talking about.

Just avoid that bar for a few days – two for the light to go on and one for it to dim and burn out.
