Per Brian Hamilton Chicago Trib

Freshman tailback/kick returner Theo Riddick has a cast on his right forearm and hand. Team spokesman Brian Hardin didn't know the nature of Riddick's injury. It's not entirely worrisome for Notre Dame, as Riddick is at best a third-string tailback for now. But it's not ideal for ball security and comfort on kickoff returns, either, which Riddick currently handles.

He may be 3rd string TB but he's 1st String Kick Returner.

...so in summary Tate & Rudolph are the only ones who regulalrly touch the ball that happen to be healthy...Geez

Weis also said that freshman running back Theo Riddick had a crack in a bone on his right hand. Riddick wore a soft case to practice on Tuesday, but had it removed on Wednesday and should be fine to play with just a splint on Saturday.

I don't know if it matters much if he gets hit on that cracked bone regardless of location. I suspect he'll carry the ball in his left arm.
