One egregious MSU overthrow to a wide open receiver coming out of the backfield on the play before the interception is all that saved us from being humiliated yet again by a VERY mediocre team.....in our house. We are just an average team with a very shaky defense and poor coaching. Truth to tell, we've only got two things going for us - a weak schedule and a storied past (distant past) that romances people into perpetually ranking us higher than we desrve.

stop saying us because you are not a notre dame fan. This is not a VERY mediocre Michigan State team. They lost to Central Michigan who is the best team in the MAC. They obviously shouldve won but do not overlook MSU. They are a good football team who is likely to win 7-8 games

I promise that Notre Dame will take the field next week and beat down the University of Washington. Granted Locker is a more mature version of Forcier and UW will score some points, our offense will put up at least 35 on UW.

Err isn't ND at Purdue next week?

Took the words out of my mouth ND23. This dude saying 'we' and 'us' when talking about ND makes me want to puke. This from a SEC honk who touts the SEC schedule as monster while calling ND's schedule full of 'powderpuffs'. Give me a break. 14+ posts now and all negative...what a shock windsome that you wrote another negative one. How was that game vs Western Loiusiana Technical Institute for the Deaf this weekend? Your Heisman candidate put up huge numbers again?

Weis should sign his check over to Clausen this week! Performances like that sets my spirits high, not to mention he did it with a flat tire. What a player we are graced with here at Notre Dame. Go Irish!!!!!!!

ND in L.A., wtf are you doing up @ 5:30 a.m.

This is my life bro. I am simply the WORST sleeper in the world. I usually fall asleep around 11, wake up at around 2, am awake until at least 3:30-4:30, then asleep until 6:15 when I get ready for work. It sucks! I usually wake up and just start thinking about things, and then I can't fall asleep. Last night was great, because I fell asleep around 11 and slept until 4:30, which is fine. I usually go a month sleeping great, and then a month sleeping early.

Oh well, I deal with it. Allows me some ND time in the middle of the night LOL...

We have put up 30 points or more each week.........grant it the secondary needs some work we haven't played too bad......all of our expectations are huge for the Irish every year.

My question is ............ OSU looked like crap last week and nearly beats USC.......and they drop a few spots in the rankings. We loose to Michigan and we drop lke a Rock !! B.S. !

OSU destroys an Oh. High School this weekend and they will creap right back up in the BCS.

I hope Mich destroys OSU......the only thing that would make it sweeter is we beat USC.

Cautiously Optomistic, Keep The Faith !!

GO IRISH !!

One egregious call by a Big Ten Official voiding an ND Touchdown in successive weeks against Big Ten foes is the only reason ND finished 2 games at the wire winning one and having the other stolen.

Are you ever going to back up your bogus ''fluffy schedule" posts, SEC boy?

maybe its Tenuta?

Thank you! I've been saying this for 2 weeks now. He needs to change up his scheme. The blitzing is not getting there. For one they tip everything off, and the offense picks up everybody because they can see them coming. Two, they are just to slow. It wouldn't matter if they were tipping...if they went and just blew shit up, but they go and get chipped off-then they've got WR's open all over the bloody place, and with room to run after the catch. Something needs to change here...

I'm aware it was a Big East official (singular) that reviewed the call. But like I said correctly it was an egregious call by a Big Ten Official.

I just posted on this subject in another thread and am not going to repeat it. Bottom line, Have you ever heard a neutral announcer, Pat Haden, protest a call. Even to going to see the Replay Ref personally for an explanation. And Haden didn't by the explanation.

I was very happy with the win yesterday, a win is a win no matter which way you look at it. But like alot of other posters here I actually came out with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.

I think all the pre-season hype and the blow out against Nevada was kind of disillusioning. ND has a way to go before they see the likes of a real BCS game.

They have the weapons, but they lack a certain synergy which separates good and great football teams. Not to mention the injuries they incurred yesterday will def add some extra challenges.

I thought after this game I would have a solid feeling as to where the Irish were in the scheme of things, but I'm still looking on in bewilderment. Guess we'll wait for next Saturday.

Also, Jimmy Clausen is the god damn man. He played like a real champ yesterday and anyone who thinks he's anything less than one of the greatest QB's in the country needs to have their head checked.

GO IRISH!

I dont like Locker. He scares me. I do believe that we wont be playing the same Washngton team that played USC. Washington played inspired football and had the advantage of USC's former O-coordinator as their head coach and former d-coordinator.....

Locker is definitely going to put some points up against us, because our defense...well, you know. But they will still have to stop JC and his crew and I would like to see UW do that. I dont think UW defense can hang with the ND offense.

USC lost partially because of lockers play, but mainly because Aaron Corp shit a brick in that game. Joe McKnight had a couple fumbles too....

i like his decision making. Passing on 2nd and 17 on his own 12 was the right move instead of running the ball and hoping our d can shut them down. Same situation as last week except he came out a winner this time.

Its not really the same as last week. Last week he was at like the 40 with 2 minutes left and UM having 2 timeouts. If he runs a minute of the clock and punts it 40 yards or 15 yards (like he did) UM would be either 80 yards or 55 yards with less then a minute left. RR play calling wouldve been completely different.

This week it was 2nd and 17 with like 5 minutes left on our own 12. If he didnt throw it and ran it MSU would have the ball with like 3:00 left 2 or 3 time outs and great field positioning.

In this case he made the right call. I still believe last week he made a bad judgment...which makes me question his coaching ability/ decisions. I loved Weis up until last week. I think hes a amazing OC just not a head coach.

Constants under CW

1. Good offense to great (aside from 07 but he gets a pass)
2. Bad to horrible defense
3. Horrible clock management
4. Poor gameday decisions/adjustments.
5. Penalties.

ND would've beat UM and MSU if they cut there penalties by half. Thats 2 weeks in a row with around 100 yards in penalties. They will lose more game then they should this season if that isn't fixed. Especially with the offense losing its best play maker.

People on other boards are saying that CW shouldn't be blamed for the defense and its not his fault, hes a great coach but he only coaches the offense so the defense isn't on him. What?!?! hes the head coach. the whole team is on his shoulders. If he only wants to be judged as a OC then resign as HC and become the highest paid OC in football. Thats ridiculous people saying we cant blame him for the defense being a joke.

Tenuta needs to stop blitzing every down. It only works when you get pressure. When you don't theres a receiver open every play. We are doing offenses a favor by blitzing every down. Thats why we are making average QB's look like heisman candidates, all they have to do is play catch.

what do you disagree on?

probably the clock management and the penalties part. what clock management? one game against michigan where you can quite frankly argue both for and against his clock management doesnt make a constant. And penalties in two games (with two awful officiating crews) dont make constants either.
