Tate blames the loss on him.....

The normally sure-handed Tate dropped two potential touchdown passes and failed to get out of bounds or go down on the last play to give his offense one more shot.

Golden Tate:
"It was just a lack of focus on my part," Tate said. "I put this loss on my back."

Definitely not Golden's fault. We still had the lead, despite his drops. Golden wasn't making Tate Forcier look like Jesus Christ. Golden wasn't on defense. Golden didn't call those pass plays on second and third down.

I agree, it wasn't his fault, but the defense let us down & that Kick-off return hurt us also, not to mention CW play calling.

We scored any way

We scored any way

On the drive where GT dropped two passes he made up for it with the TD catch. The only thing we lost was time on the clock. I think they should find a spot on D because we looked pathetic.

Put him on the defensive line. I swear, he'd be so much better than anybody we currently have.

With this defense are we in trouble against teams like MSU, SC, and others. How many teams are we going to face with a spread offense?

Favorite player. kids a competitor, love his spirit.... not his fault, but he puts it on his shoulders and sees his mistakes. I love players like that.

Definitely not Tate's fault. But I do like the example he is setting for the rest of the team: Take ownership of your performance, and realize that one person CAN lose a game for the team.

the only thing he did today that cost us anything was his celebration that hurt us on the kickoff.
his drop in the endzone was a touchdown.i cant believe it wasnt reviewed.go back and look at it.he had possession and his elbow hit the ground before he dropped it.
i cant believe he dropped that big bomb that hit him in the numbers though.

CW claims AA put the loss on his shoulders also, because of the taunting pentalty. Its nice to see no one is pointing fingers. I believe they will bounce back big next week. If this loss hurts us this bad, imagine how the players are feeling. We could have wiped the floor with michigan, just let plays get away from us way too much through out the game.

Man I could go on and on in agreement, I'm with you guys it may be where not being in a conference hurts us. With officials. That game was not run well at all. The screen TD was not undisbutable evidence and unless they saw something TV didnt show you cant call that back. We lost and next week is huge. I think losing to a team who's alumni m/f's us like Dana Jacobson bothers me a little more. One thing about the Irish we keep it pretty classy.

Also nice to see the guys protecting Charlie, he doesnt need it but it says alot. These guys get it and I hope the sting of losing one they shouldnt have burns like hell for a week. They can still have the year they want. Win the next 3 and get ready for USC. I think we win that game. Let the $#%& fly at me but I think we win that game.

I hate to sound like a negative nancy here but if we cant win a big game like that....we cant get it done this season. MSU and USC are going to do the same thing to our defense we just need to finish out games. This game sickens me and I think it proved that maybe we got too hyped last week. I love ND with all my heart but this was just....wrong especially to blow it like we did agaisnt the team i hate the most it takes all the wind out of my sails...hopefully we can bounce back and try to make something out of this season but I think Mark May is licking his chops with what he can say now and its a damn shame.

This game should not have been close. 2 long scoring drives in the first quarter turn into 3 points for us and 7 points for them. Passing it up and down the field all day long when ever we wanted, seemingly running it when ever AA got the ball.

I figured I would leave this out pregame and see what happens, but the last time Tenuta faced DickRod in 2007, WVU lit up GT for something like 400yards rushing. While Forcier is no White, same result.

Err did ND forget to come out of the locker room in the 3Q? That QB sneak in the 1Q was the turning point in the game in my opinion. You have a RB that can run, you have receivers who are killing the secondary and yet you QB sneak it and give them hope.

I do not have a problem with celebrating or showboating. I like seeing the team have swagger, but considering the situation, yeah that was stupid.

I dont remember the year but Oklahoma beat Texas A&M 77-7 one year and late in the 4th quarter one of A&M's lineman got a sack. He got up and did a dance and pounded his chest. Thats what Tate's walk reminded me of

Forget Tate's hotdogging. There were far less classy things done during the course of that football game (Cissoko's shove).

Anybody recall Forcier pointing to the crowd and holding the football in front of him as he raced into the endzone to give UM a 31-20 lead?

I am doing everything I can to hold the insults back. First off, watch the game again my friend. The QB sneak(it was a draw) (even though I threw my head into my hands when it was called) was there. Graham made a play. Big deal. JC missed an open Tate in the endzone in the previous play. OK, I am not sure if we are all on the same page as far as the term "turning point". I look at it as a play that drastically changes the momentum of the game. Here go a list of plays that I thought were or seemed like "turning points". Missed FG, Matthews lucky ass catch on third and long, reversed Allen run, kickoff return, illegal shift on the last drive of the first half, missed FG by Michigan, fumble by Gray, fourth and 3 Forcier big TD run, Floyd's 30 yard catch on first and 25 (I felt like this was the first time ND was imposing their will on the game), and interception. I don't think the QB draw was really that important. At least in comparison.

I hate losing as much as you guys, especially to UM, but I find many positives in this game. For one, I'd rather lose an early game than one at the end of the season. This can do nothing but bring our boys down to reality and help them realize that it doesn't matter who the opponent is, games are won or lost by the team as a whole. No game is a gimme, everything is earned. Second, I feel like we gave this game away as opposed to being beat. Two years ago when they beat us 38-0, there was no doubt that Michigan was the better team. We gave up a kickoff td, had some questionable play-calling, allowed them to rush for far too many yards, missed an easy fg. You make that fieldgoal, or have Tate catch that TD in the endzone(although I thought he had it to begin with), stop that special teams td, and we win easily. I'm not even going to mention how AA's touchdown was definitely a td.

There is nowhere to go but up from here. We shake off this loss, get really pissed off, and take it out on our next ten opponents. Besides, since I know all of us are concerned with the SC game, after watching them against OSU, I definitely feel like they are beatable. I'm not saying we are favorites here, but I am saying from recent memory this is by far our best chance to beat those jerkoffs.

Anyways, it's good to be back on this site after a brief hiatus.

Tate could have played better, so could have Darrin Walls, no doubt about it. Not so sure about Darius Fleming (the poster boy for getting punked by a freshman) Carlo Calabrese cant beat out Fleming???? ...atrocious

I've never liked a defense that blitzed all the time. If you blitz all the time to compensate from your dline not getting any pressure, the shoe is going to drop. Blitzing leaves your secondary on an island in man-coverage. Blitzing should be a strategy that is deployed during key points of the game, not deployed throughout the entire game.

Now, when you cant generate any pressure even after blitzing....look out, your team is in trouble.

We blitz and get no pressure....

lets recap:
our dline cant get any pressure
we blitz to compensate, still get no pressure
man coverage in secondary.
we cant stop the run, or the pass.

If we're gonna talk about the turning point in the game:

The Gray fumble.

AA's TD called back
Rudolphs 72 yard catch called back

The arteries in my neck throb when I think about it......Like I said, I left that game feeling cheated.

Look folks. Officiating determined the outcome of the game.

ND was the better team.

But ND folded as a result of the officiating.

It is tough to beat your opponent when the game is predetermined.
