University of Michigan Wolverines lose another player with dismissal of WR Justin Feagin - ESPN

by Adam Rittenberg 7/26

Michigan has dismissed sophomore slot receiver Justin Feagin for violating team rules. Wolverines head coach Rich Rodriguez said in a statement Saturday that Feagin's violation occurred Thursday night.
The 6-foot, 198-pound Feagin came to Michigan as a quarterback and was a candidate for the starting job last season before being moved to slot receiver. He appeared in four games as a reserve quarterback in 2008 and had 11 rushes for 52 yards, including a 34-yarder in a win against Minnesota.
Michigan has had a swell of player departures during Rodriguez's brief tenure, though Feagin is one of the first players exclusively recruited by Rodriguez's staff to be leaving the program. Offensive lineman Dann O'Neill recently transferred to Western Michigan, and offensive lineman Kurt Wermers announced his transfer to Ball State last week.

Feagin got 3 Stars from Rivals in '08 and was ranked as the 41st ATH. Rodriquez recruited him for QB. There were no QBs in Rodriquez's first recruiting class.

That's at least 3 that have left UM from Rodriquez's first class:

McGuffie 4 Star All-Purpose Back #10
Wormers 3 Star OG #37
Feagin 3 Star ATH #41

McGuffie was a real loss. He fit Rodriquez's system. The others were buried in the depth charts, Wormers was #4 at RG and Feagin was #3 in the slot behind a pair of sophomores.

UM's got some slots they can fill now in the Class of 2010. So far their 2010 class has 16 verbals, 5 - 4 Stars, and 11 Stars.

How can a team... with really NO team rules... lose a kid for violating team rules? I'm assuming he either killed someone or made a pass at Rich Rod's wife.

Maybe he was seen walking around campus with a WVU sweatshirt on.

People in the Detroit area are talking about how RR is using non-impact player to instill some discipline since everyone who is leaving takes his shots at the program on the way out, and the alumni have been complaining about a lack of discipline since he's been there.

I'm getting this from talk-radio beat reporters who follow UM football - I listen to Detroit radio because I grew up in the D.

What do fans think of Rich Rod? are they being patient with him, asking for his job etc? From the outside it seems like a mess, but Rodriguez has won in the past so just curious

They are all using the, "Give it time" and just wait til' Rich Rod gets, "his players" bullcrap.

It just looks wrong seeing UM run the spread. It looks very awkward.

Give a coach five years. Regardless of who it is, you need five years to get your guys and your system.

If only Willingham had been given a full 5 at ND AND UW. Think what he might have achieved - a perfect season.

Wait a minute, he did that in 2008 at UW - a perfect 0-12.

First PAC 10 team to ever go 0-12.

Police: Ex-Michigan Wolverine Justin Feagin in failed drug deal - ESPN

Less than three weeks after Michigan dismissed sophomore slot receiver Justin Feagin for an unspecified violation of team rules, details have surfaced regarding the reasons behind Feagin's ouster.

The Detroit Free Press reported on its Web site Sunday night that Feagin was involved in a failed cocaine deal with a fellow Michigan student that later resulted in the student setting a fire near Feagin's dorm room in March. The student, T.J. Burke, pleaded guilty Wednesday to felony arson and agreed to pay Michigan $14,213. Burke faces up to 10 years in jail.

This kid is proof of how clueless DickRod must be. I read a different article on this subject that mentioned that Feagin had admitted to dealing drugs when he grew up in Florida and he had two charges of battery. How do you not catch this kind of thing? A simple $25 backround check that takes 30 mins would be able to find this out. I love how this just makes scUM look even worse. What a joke.

And to make this even more entertaining. Feagin was trying to transfer to Appalacian State. But they rejected his application after finding this out.

Sealed juvenile records.

When I get home from work I'm going to look up the article I read earlier becasue I though it said that the news source learned of his past record through a public service that allows you to access criminal files. I'll get the details later

It could be.

Are criminal background checks standard for universities today?

Should the football coach do them or the universities admission department?

Does ND do them?

ND didn't find a false degree for an employee they HIRED for big $$$$.
