Looking To Visit Soon -

Steve Wiltfong, IrishSportsDaily, notes OT Eric Kohler has offers from ND UAZ ASU UW SU CAL and UCLA. Eric has only seen CAL and UCLA so far. He stays in touch with Polian, Verducci, and Weis. He's also hearing from OU and ORE. Wants to major in business. Hopes to make a commitment before his senior season.

Kohler was leaning pretty heavily to UCLA and CAL but that changed after an unofficial visit to UW.

I loved it at UW. My visit was pretty incredible and right now, the Huskies are my top school. Nick (Montana) is talking to me about UW every day and the coaches and especially Coach Sark are rercruiting me very hard right now. UCLA is a close second and CAL is right there too. Honestly, there is not much separating any of the 3 schools, they're all very close. I'm hoping to make my decision in Aug and I would like to visit all 3 one more time but I'm not sure I'll be able to.

Other offers include UAZ, ASU ND ORE and SU.

He still wants to set up a visit so lets just see what happens

And he also said that the only reason that ND wasn't in his top 3 is because he hasn't visited yet. UW is sitting pretty, but if visits like he said he wants to, obviously our chances go up a ton...

Good news for ND. He will be coming to ND this Thursday, per ISD. This is such a position of need that we better hope he enjoys it as much or more than he did his time at UW...

Kohler is about the same size as Ryan Harris when he committed. Kohler's about 10 pounds heavier. He also benches about 35 pounds more than Harris did on a comparable timeframe.

ESPN comments on Kohler:

Pass protection is sound and long arms help keep pass rushers off his body and pads. Needs to keep hips down on pass pro; tends to get high and legs get locked out and as a result can't recover at times. Kohler has some athleticism but really needs to work on flexibility and change of direction. He could be a right tackle at the next level and could develop into a left tackle with some fundamental maturity and lower body agility work. He is a raw talent with a huge upside.

Sounds like a RT but still would love to get him on campus. Is he still planning on coming this week?

Update: Jimmy just escoted Kohler over to the College Footbal Hall of Fame to make his announcement.

Nope, not at all. If it were Dayne, this kid would be in the bag. With Jimmy...we'll see

Just kidding FL, he talked to Steve Wiltfong; I usually mention where I get my 'deep, deep, deeply placed sources very familiar with the situation', but I forgot this time!
