According to his father, Kamran Joyer, who signed with the University of South Florida last February was granted a release from his scholarship. Seems the Bulls signed 29 on LOI Day and only have space for 23. Whoops sorry we thought we'd have more flunk out but they Katzenmoyered so we don't have space. Do you mind leaving even though summer classes have started on other campuses and we don't have to help you find a spot this late in the year.

The NCAA needs to step in here and make the letter of intent an actual commitment on the part of the school. Anyone you sign who does not end up on campus still counts as an occupied scholarship slot that year, and you can't sign a letter of intent until you are academically eligible. Otherwise you're going to get more instances like this when unscrupulous coaches meet marginally innocent babes.

Does he have to sit out a year if he goes to another school? That would be a pisser if he has to.

So how do these schools like Alabama do it? Don't they oversign on a regular basis only to weed them out through the admissions process? Do these kids go into it knowing there is a possibility they won't have a spot?

THE NCAA NEEDS TO ACT AUTHORITATIVELY ON THE RECRUITMENT MATTER BUT DONT HOLD YOUR BREATH. THEY HAVE YET TO ACT ON THE USC/REGGIE BUSH DEBACLE. I LIKEN THEM TO A PUSSY CAT TAKING ON THE PIT BULLS OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

They know some students won't qualify accademically. They also grey shirt some players. Others transfer or go to JC's. Alabama also lucked out because they had 3 guys get drafted into MLB

They also know some of the team members weren't coming back whether the team member knew it or not. Player get culled through academics, injuries, at ND ResLife, AND because the coaches drive off a kid to give his scholarship to someone "better". There was a big stick an SCA not to long ago when Spurrier wanted a kid to quit and the kid refused.

As for Bama being "lucky" when the 3 guys were drafted, that was factored into the number of signing. They took a gamble with the upside being that IF those guys give up baseball and return to college they'll head for T'Town. Same concept with locking up those that aren't likely to qualify. Build a bond so when they get through J.C. they'll want to come home to mama who thought enough of them to offer when others were ignoring them.

The NCAA is to recruitment as the SEC(Securities Exchange Commission) is to Bernie Madoff.

That is why when you see a school like Tennessee all of a sudden lose alot of players, it isn't an accident. The coaching staff is ussually just driving players they don't want out. You can expect the Vols to take a huge class this year.
