Chris Martin to take visits?

Ok Sampson talked to Martins dad who said that Chris wanted to attend the Rising Stars Camp at USC because it gives him chance to compete against the best talent and improve his game. He was not allowed to because he was commited to ND and the Trojans didnt want him recruiting for the Irish at their camp. Martin is opening his commitment to 1) ensure that he really made the right choice 2) so that he can continue to hit the camps and improve his game. I hope this is the reason. He is still commited and has yet to take another visit. Everyone just calm down.

Saying he's very committed but wants to look around is strange.

Exactly. We were happy when Tailer JOnes said he was reopening his commitment, and yet we're pissed that Martin's doing the same. Oh the hypocrisy LOL. And I'm as guilty as anyone!

Found an article with some Martin quotes in it from SBT. says he didnt talk to the Irish coaches about taking the visits, but emailed them. kind of strange i thought. Link below.

South Bend Tribune: NDs Fauria sent into exile

That's really the only unsettling part I find with Martin. If he's not sure, go get sure. But if you really have a special relationship do you slip out the back, Jack?

And if you're the coach with that special relationship, did you maintain it? Too many companies in business take their existing client base for granted while they pursue new clients. While they persue those new clients, somebody else is courting your old ones.

THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!

Come on people, even if he does up recruitment, when we do well this season (fingers crossed) there will be no doubt in his mind that he made the right decission.

Exactly. This REALLY really sucks ass, but he is a 17 year old kid who has every major program and top recruiters in his ear saying how bad Notre Dame is. How Weis will be fired. How great theyre school is. Etc. He is still committed, and these visits are not scheduled or not even til the season starts. Alot can happen. Stop putting him down and hope his love for NotreDame will keep him on board.

Plus thats alot of Irish gear he is gonna have to get rid of if he does leave

Not sure if anyone said anything about this as that is a lot to read. This kid is in high school and teams want him to come up to their college and show him a good time. He may just be taking advantage of the situation.

Give the kid some credit - he wants to compete against the best to make himself better that in turn WILL make the IRISH better. Sounds like he is strong enough to turn PC down. He just wants to play against the best this summer.

The young man looks like a good kid that will make the right decision in the end. Yeah I'm scared, but in the end I think he'll be Irish.

Another thing is this: Why would he move to NJ when he is not Irish? Didn't he move from Cali to get away from USC and other schools out west?

"... its the smart move,"

YES ITS THE SMART MOVE!!!! keeping your options open is the smart move. please tell me when that is not the smart move....???

Is it, exactly what has changed since 2/4/09 when Martin made his commitment?
not much. but your not in this kids head (although you may think you are) What if he has looked closer at ND since his verbal and noticed that some alumni are dogging him (CW) out at every turn??? What if CW is the main reason he is coming here and he hears that alot of alumni want him out? thats way different then the national media dogging him out. This is his own ppl not having his back. would that make you want to come to ND? maybe he is thinking, "they turned on CW, they could turn on me too." Maybe he wants stability in a program, and with the weis talk by ND ppl(I dont care about national media, and anyone else), it makes the situation look unstable......who knows

talking to other teams, even UNC is smart too. NOT talking to a team that wants to talk to you, is not smart at all. you need to listen to ANY and ALL offers before you can make your best educated decision. It can give you leverage if nothing else. I dont know his plans, so I dont know why he is talking to teams like UNC.

Keeping your options open, is ALWAYS the smart move. Even if its a no-brainer.

Until he says he is no longer committed to ND or commits somewhere else, I will continue to see him in the Blue and Gold and will brag about him with vigor.

I love this board so i wanted to get it on here as soon as i read it

“People say, 'Chris is looking.' I’m not looking. My sights are set on Notre Dame.”

Apparently, the news of Martin potentially taking other visits didn't sit too well on the home front. He said his mother got on him hard about his pledge to Notre Dame, making sure it was solid.

“She said either you’re going to ND or your (butt) is going to junior college," Martin said. "And the juniors colleges out here suck.”

Gotta Love Mom, but he did say if Notre Dame does have a coaching change he will be looking around

"Mom... LSU wants me to come down and I just want to.."

"JESUS help you Chris... I will tan your hide so much you will want to run screaming to Coach Weis to put out the fire. You will NOT do that."

"But..."

"NO BUTS!"

".... Yes Ma'am..."

I don't know about you... but I'm a freaking 295 pound 23 year old. My Mother still scares the living hell out of me.

So everyone, from hundreds of ND fans on facebook to his mom to Corwin Brown, freaks out on him, and he reaffirms his commitment. What do you think is more likely, that he's actually back to not wanting to look, or that he just wanted the chaos to go away? I don't think the underlying problem is fixed here

No the underlying problem will be fixed when ND starts whooping ass on September 5th. Then it will be all good.

Plus can we kill this thread. i do not like the negativity of the title

Would it help to start a new thread about this?

Maybe along the lines of "Mom threatens to break foot off in sons ass!!"
or
"Cali mom threatens to shoot next Urban white guy or Poodle looking coach who knocks on her door looking for her son!' sounds less negative to me.:)
