2) There was no demilitarization. There was a draw down from the Cold War. That was the point of the Cold War...when you won, you got to stop fighting it. 'Cause let's face it, most of what was shut down was stuff to fight Soviets with...not what we were going to fight terrorists with.

I left Oregon last August. When we looked around at Kindergarens in 2007, it was clear we needed to leave Oregon. Oregon has low taxes and underfund services. It's like a Southern state, but with better coffee and birkenstocks.

this is a state funding and legislation problem, they fuck it up and then point the finger at the teachers and admins who are forced to follow their policies while 20 to 1 (one of the very few good things about NCNB) is totally forgotten.

I know... education is one of the key issues in this country I don't know who to side with... I can honestly say I am about 50/50 all things considered but am VERY moderate right on the issues I REALLY REALLY care about... except education...

both sides blame teachers and call for harder certificates and making it more rigorous on the kids... it's a FLAGRANT example of disconnection from reality on both sides by those in power... I have heard nothing I like from either side in the last five years or so... it's really discouraging considering I work in education... and is the very reason why I am looking to jump to full time faculty at the University Level in the near future... one can only take so much... but as said before the blame DOES lie with Bush here (Not everywhere, but here) his heart was in the right place as LMI said, but our educational system was destroyed in the past eight years... what is funny this is the only area the left seems to give him a pass on for the most part...

Unless you are a die hard republican i do not see how you can defend his administration. The Republican party decided to turn to Karl Rove campaining to divide demographics, address the hard core base, and make elections based on right wing values and not on issues, and it bit the party in the ass. The man has been in office for just over 100 days, and he is now a tyrant and socialist. Kim Jong Il is a tyrant, and public school is a socialist idea so why not just end this thread and get back to what we are all here for and thats Notre Dame
