Has anyone heard how serious this may be? I think JA is underrated due to the OL and offense struggles. He hits the hole a ton, and never gets pushed back. It looked like ankle (or high ankle), but no mention of severity has been made.

Ankle sprains are one of the worst injuries a running back could have with all the cutting they do it could lingure all season. Hopefully the strength coach emphasised the importance of strength bands for stretching your ankles.

Injury updates

Charlie Weis said this afternoon that he didn't talk to running back James Aldridge before he left the stadium on Saturday, but that Aldridge wasn't wearing a boot or walking on crutches after the game.

Aldridge suffered what appeared to be a right ankle or leg injury during the first quarter of the game against Boston College and did not return.

"I saw him walking out of the locker room from afar, just after the press conference when I was walking through and he was walking out," Weis said. "He wasn't in a boot, he wasn't on crutches. I didn't get a chance to talk to him because I'm not fast enough to run down there. But I did see him and it looked like he was walking OK."

Linebacker Maurice Crum Jr. didn't see much action Saturday because of a turf toe injury he suffered at UCLA. His status is unknown for next week because turf toe is a "very weird injury," Weis said.

"He practiced very limited this week, and he tried to go and just felt that he couldn't push off on it," Weis said. "He could be full go this week, or he could be a little banged up this week. We'll just have to wait to see how it goes. I could tell you, him not playing this past week will give us a lot better chance of him playing this week."

Weis meets with the media on Sunday before hearing from the team doctors, so we probably won't get any further updates on the two players' status until Tuesday.

I personally think knees are worse. They could have long term effects.

From what I've been told James has been seen walking around campus this week in an air cast, and he is listed as doubtful. I'm guessing that means it's a bad sprain.

Yeah, if Weis said he was doubtful on Tuesday - which he did - I'd say it's a solid bet that he won't play. Which SUCKS.

(Kinda like SC.)

I suppose it depends on what type of knee injury, but I think achilles ruptures are the worst. I ruptured the same leg twice and while I'm not a running back, I was always very active. The ruptures completely destroyed my confidence in pushing off and running hard. The ruptures also happened when I was doing less than stressful things. I am always worried that I will re-rupture. Plus, there's no brace they can put on to take some of the stress of it the way you can with some knee braces.

Sorry, didn't mean to digress into a "what's the worst injury" discussion.

It's a high-ankle sprain. A gazillion vbucks says there's no chance he plays on Saturday.

No worries, I've had high ankle sprains, and injuries in both knees. My left in both cases was more serious. I tore cartalidge and ruptured my MCL in my left knee playing football.
