i think you're right about learning the ropes of what to/not to say. it would suck to be bombarded by the media at 17 without any interview experience.

ESPN posted that Carter says he will only focus on the 4 schools that have offered him thus far: Notre Dame, Stanford, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. He has visited the first three and plans on visiting Nebraska in the near future. He also states that he plans to commit early, by May or so, and has no clear favorite. I am not sure of where this one will go.

I had heard his visit to Stanford made him a lock for the Cardinal. It's nice to hear he's still open to other opportunities.

Chance was impressed with all of his visits. That's not surprising. I imagine the attention given to recruits on visits and the school putting their best face on is impressive to alot of recruits.

It is not surprising therefore that reports immediately after the visit would be good for that school. But after the post-visit shine wears off, and Chance considers all of the factors he is looking for (knowing that going to school there won't be a party everyday like it is on a visit), he seems to keep coming back to what a great opportunity going to ND would be.

I imagine ND will get serious consideration, just like he is giving to the other schools.

Agreed Socal. I really do believe he will circle back to ND. He will realize that we are just as good at academics as Stanford and have a better football program...We also are a school who is close to home where his mom and pops could see him play. This is going to be an interesting recruitment to say the lleast.

Yeah, he spoke with Coach Hart and Bryant Young introduced himself as well as spending time with Mendoza.

2 things:

1. According to Scout, Chance is now down to 3 schools, as he dropped Wisconsin from the list. He's visiting Nebraska this weekend and is really looking forward to it. Look for him to fall in love with them, put them at the top of his list, have every ND fan freak out, only to have everyone even again after 2 weeks of calming down.

2. Can we put a moratorium on all these bad 'Chance' puns? I think we've pretty much beaten that horse to death! I know I know, you think they're so cute, but just give my idea a chance before you shoot it down...

Only if can give me a chance to rebuttle your discussion concerning Chance. Chances are that you would find it interesting to take a chance talking about Chance while taking chances on the stock market as of late...

Enjoyed the visit, but was much more tempered in his comments. Yes. he said his visit was a 10, but that was about it for the over-the-top, I-love-this place-more-than-anything type comments. The rest of his comments were much more standard. Lesson learned, I'm sure. I'm sure it's still a 3 horse race between ND, Stanford and Nebraska...

hes just a kid who thought he would decide early then the roller coaster of recruiting got a hold of himand now he wants to sit back and make a decision. These are 16 and 17 year olds who are being courted by someof the biggest programs in the country and are getting attention that they never had before. let him take his time.

He's got 5 offers not 50.

He's got "the same shortlist of 3" but he's not dropping the other two while adding ... "I'm also looking at Boston College, and I might take a look at Michigan."

Yeah, I read that too and he had everyone's hopes up again that he might be in ND's plans again. Then ISD just reported that he told them he wouldn't be coming next week.

What a weird, weird recruitment this guy has gone through. Early offers from the likes of ND, about to commit to seemingly 3 different schools at different times, now complete silence. His recruitment is like the exact opposite of the late bloomers, like Jesse Scroggins. I really wonder if ND pulled his scholly, or made it 'unactionable'...
