I feel for you bro.

My fiance's dad works for ND, and her older brother and older sister are graduates. She was a very good student in SB, and she was very fortunate to also be able to go there. She graduated in 2006. But she says that if she was a h.s. graduate today, even w/ her 'connections', she prob wouldn't get in. It's just too damn hard now. Like the others said, you'll be alright. Notre Dame only has 8,000 students, so it's VERY difficult to get into. Whatever school you get into, they'll be happy to have you if you put your foot to the pedal and work your ass off (but have fun too - hey, it's friggin' college!). You'll be fine.

Hope this doesn't sour you on ND!!!

I'm with Bambi and LA on this one kid. For me, I was accepted into ND, Wabash College, and West Point. Originally, I was gonna join the long grey line and take advantage of the free education. Then, when they found out I had childhood asthma (which I grew out of) it left ND and Wabash. I chose the latter... the "Harvard of the Midwest"... so I could play football for another four years. Now, four conference championships later, two terrible knees later, two playoff trips later, I still wish I would have gone with my heart and gone to ND.

Hey kid. You are smart. You are talented. No matter where you go, you're gonna be a stud. You wanna coach some time, hook up with me. I'd be glad to get ya on my staff.

Oh... and some side news... I just got in to IU's Graduate School of Educational Psychology.

jboxer562, you can still try to transfer next year.

I would call Wabash as soon as possible.

Hey wait. Wabash. What's your number. I want to be on your staff too. Congrats buddy.

This is speculation on my part but looking at the numbers, it seems as if the economy had quite the effect on admissions this year, not only at Notre Dame, but also at schools similarly ranked.

The admissions statistics released by Notre Dame indicated that the acceptance rate has increased. This could very likely be a counter to an anticipated decreased yield rate. With the economy the way it is, Notre Dame and her peers anticipate that more families will be unable to afford sending their students to the top schools. Thus, in order to maintain its enrollment numbers, Notre Dame has accepted more applicants this year, even despite receiving a record number of applications. Because increasing the acceptance rate will have a negative effect on selectivity ratings, Notre Dame has accepted students from a higher statistical range at the expense of students with lower numbers and certain intangibles. Many, it seems, even those aspiring towards higher education have been victim to this economy and the anticipation of the effects of this economy, including my sister who was not admitted to the University for the fall.

Disclaimer: This is just speculation, I can't claim to know anything on the matter first-hand.

Congrats to you Jboxer for at least trying to get in. Many people just figure ND is a no-go anyways and never find the courage to try. You at least did. And congrats to you too Wabash!

Look at it this way Jboxer, that rejection is still from Notre Dame right? With the Notre Dame emblem on it? As far as I am concerned, anything you have from ND is a gift. My friend has his three rejection letters from ND framed on a wall, and that is no joke. Good luck at UCF! Go Golden Knights!

ill here sometime in june. id say ima long shot

I hope you didn't spell 'hear' the way you just did on your application! j/k

At least you have the stones to try. I didn't even try (I think I would've broken the record for fastest rejection letter, but I digress). I didn't get into my other dream school, UCLA, however I did get into U$C! (LOL) Couldn't bring myself to be aq Trojan, so I went to a state school, saved a ton of cash, and I'm very happy. Not getting into your #1 school doesn't mean your life is over (it does suck though!); you can still do whatever you put your mind to. Hell, one of my brothers started at a JC, and he just got a doctorate from UCLA. Good luck to the both you!!!

UCF: Great campus, very respectable school in Florida, sports on the rise, good looking girls, and super Winter weather. You made an excellent choice.

hang in there bro, you will have a great time at ucf and get a great education.

i actually applied to ND twice. Once in high school, once after my freshman year of college. needless to say i got turned down twice.

i was going to try again, but you dont have to go there to be a fan, and it all worked out in the end.

RamMan, What are your other choices?

Well I just finished my freshman year at Holy Cross and ended up with 3 A's and 7 A-. So i hope i got a shot. If i do not get in after another year at Holy Cross, I am looking at Northwestern or most likely going back to california and trying to go to a school like UCLA.

Well, good luck man. Great job on the grades; I'd think you have a decent shot at it. Are the admissions for transfers lighter than that for HS grads?

The University I attend doesn't have the "minuses" and "pluses". What do you get for an A-? 3.5?
