First of all, I'd like to thank all of you guys and gals putting up with me. I love Irishenvy and love giving my views on topics (I hope you agree most of the time) ha. Anyways, I though it'd be fitting to do my 1,000th post for a top 3 beer thread. I think thats the only thing I'm famous for! ha. Thanks again my friends.

1. Newcastle- I just love it. So smooth and so tasty. For you locals, that bar across the Mish. mall has it for 225 a draft.

2. Sierra Nevada Torpedo- A new beer from Sierra Nevada. Its an extra IPA ale. I absolutely love it. 7.2 percent alchy to boot!

3. Heineken- My first fav will always have its place in my top 3. Soooooooo good. Plus I'm drinking it right now!!!

Cheers mates!

We have a thread like this somewhere but might as well update it...

1.) Belhaven Scottish

2.) Sierra Nevada Pale

3.) Celebrator Double Boch

Best MircoBrew-- LOVE these two... Shipyard's PumpkinHead and PH Woods DesertWheat... the second you have to come out to Cali for, the first is found everywhere during the fall

The IPA from Sierra Nevada that the thread creator mentioned has me quite excited, can't wait to try it...

I like all beers mentioned here but one... Most overrated beer ever is Heineken easy... just a hugely over priced bottle of bitter nastiness

This is a pretty tough question. Personally my top three changes depending the setting. Am I at the bar? Am I tail gaiting? Am I at a fine restaurant? If the question is solely on taste, I would say:

1. Fitgers Brew House El Nino

2. Finnegan's Irish Red Ale

3. BEAST!!!

That is a fabulous point. There is a huge trend right now in the restaurant industry for high end restaurants to have Beer Pairings with meals just like wine pairings. Certain beers go better with different foods. There is also a trend in these trendy bistros to serve beer in larger vessels to be shared among groups with a meal rather than just a bottle or glass for one person. So that is an excellent point about how much the setting and situation matters.

If I could only pick three they would be:

1. Guinness - Hands down, my favorite

2. Sam Adams Summer Ale

3. Hoegaarden

For a great addition to Guinness, pour in a glass (large wine glass is preferable) and add a shot of Southern Comfort and a shot of Drambuie. Sounds terrible, but it is awesome. Knocks you on your ass too!

Similar to your idea of a shot added with Guinness, I have a drinking buddy who orders a large mug of PBR and adds a shot of tequila. I tried it once, it's about as strong as the Fitgers Ale House El Nino. My cousin also once in a while drinks bloody beer.

I also agree that it really depends on my mood but here's my top three

1) Killians
2) Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse Dunkel (pretty much most wheat beers can be here)
3) Smithwicks and Guiness are tied.

Nah never tried it. I heard it gives you worms from the dirty water used to make it.

top 3.

1. Michelob Ultra. hands down favorite beer, since i was about 12.
2. Labatts Blue. Goes down easy, its cheap, and my friends and i drink it alot....
3. Michelob Lager or Regular.....so i have only tried it once, but i think that it was the best beer i ever tasted. Cant find the damn stuff anywhere though, even in effing beer stores. Anybody knows where to find that shit lemme know.

I dont think i have every tried the sierra nevada beer you guys are talking about, i take it you can only find it out west and not in Ohio?

I really dont argue beer though. If its cheap and especially if its free....im drinking it.

1. Samuel Adams October Fest. I scored and bought a case for $12. This beer is da shit man

2. Heineken. The green bottle with the red star is always good.

3. Primo Beer. If you get the chance try it. Very smooth with a lil bit of spice in it.

Holy crap. That stuff tastes like light beer mixed 50-50 with rusty water!

Oh my Lord!! I just spit coffee all over my keyboard! My boss is going to dock my pay again!

In college, we used to drink Lucky Lager. The beer was kind of crappy, but it came in these cool 10oz short squatty bottles and the bottle caps had riddles on the under side. They were easy at first, but after about 14 or 15, they were real head scratchers.

Also, does anyone remember Party Balls? Coors Light had the 5 gallon party ball which was a plastic orb with a built in tap. The cool thing was that after you killed all the beer, you had a great plastic ball for drunk soccer! They don't make them anymore, but if you were going for quantity over quality, nothing beat a party ball.

October Fest is the devil, it tastes so good. Two years ago i told my friend, "Let's go to the bar, it has a great new beer!" The next thing I remember was waking up in my Carhart jacket and bibs, snow boats, chopper mittens, snow pants, and winter cap (keep in mind, this happened when I was still in Minnesota).

So yes, October Fest is delicious.
