Wabash, were drunk when you wrote this? Too many lesson plans due? LOL.

I didn't know McKnight chose SC over us. From everything I remember, he was all LSU before Pete snaked him. Reminds of when Reggie Bush chose USC over ND at the last second. My USC 'source' (LOL, just a guy who lives for ND that knows a ton of USC alum well-connected) told me at the time, and I'll never forget it, that Reggie was all set for ND but his step-dad was scum, and SC gave him a little somethin'-somethin' to get him to there. I thought my friend was just spouting off, but sure enough, 4 years later the Yahoo report came out with the house and the agents and all that. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the step-dad took something from alumni to convince Reggie to go there. And one thing is for sure that my friend was right about, the stap-dad is slimy, no doubt about that at all...

ND,

I remember watching the ESPN selection special and Kiper and whoever was sitting there and said that it was down to ND and USC. Some other five star had committed to SC about an hour before and Kerbstreet and Kiper had my hopes up, saying that McKnight had a great shot of being Irish. Instead, he chose USC, my remote hit the wall, the batteries flew, the plastic shattered, and the rest if history.

Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks. Personally, I can't stand Joe Knight, just because he fumbles so damn much, and then you read about in the papers him bitching about not getting the ball enough, and him having meetings with Pete about it, etc, when that team has so many damn weapons and he fumbles the ball too much.

Having said that, the dude has some serious talent, as shown when he ran by ND defenders like they were standing still last year. Also, one of my students (5th grade) met him at a grocery store and he said he was really nice to him, and those stories always lessen my 'hatred' for a guy.

I wish I could watch draft day coverage, but I'll be working. I'll try to sneak a peak at the Internet as much as I can (kids, we're doing group work all day!), but I'd love to be watching ESPN U's coverage at home...

ND, being a future educator of America's youth like yourself, I understand what you are going through. Might I suggest you finish plainning your unit that ends with a culmination formative assessment that involves group work? That way you can be Dewian, stand bakc, and let them "learn from positive experiences" and self knowledge. That way... you and Rivals can have some dirty, dirty sexy time with the recruits.

very good post.. I remember those great Notre Dame teams and players. Jerome Bettis, Rick Mirer, Reggie Brooks, Aaron Taylor, Demetriuos Dubois, Rocket Ismail, Tony Rice, Bryant Young, Allen Rossum, Jeff Burris, Tim Ruddy, Luke Petitgout, Jeff Faine, Shane Walton, Rod Smith, Todd Lyght, Kevin Mcdougle, Joe Montana, Ricky Watters, Lee Becton, Chris Zorich, Just to name a few!!!!!!!

HawaiianIrish, this is a pretty good group but something seems a little out of whack. You mention all of theses guys from the 80's and 90's and you have one from the 70's. Did you get to see Joe Montana (while he was playing - not on replay) play and if so was he the only one in that era that you could remember? Just wondering!

I hate USC because when I was a kid growing up in the USC area, I was chased by some Fruit Town Bloods and the USC Security goons tried to arrest me forI running through the school. They told me it was private property and they wanted me to stay out. That my friends was not neighborly.

Oohhhh. That gets me so mad. Next time I see someone wearing SC garbage I'm gonna...gonna...

Um...gonna...gonna...

Oohhh...

(But I really will "gonna.")

I really hate the trojans ( a lot!) because they are really the People's Front of Judea. Splitters!

Friggen lol

But "ends with a culmination" could be shortened to "culminates" - ya know- that letter "S" that I can't get rid of without a lithp...

I don't like SC and respect the history, but I enjoy hating the skunkbears, spartans, and backup College much more. It is tough to hate a school that has ruled your ass for the last 7 years. Once the game gets competitive again, I will replenish my venom.

I HATE losing to inferior teams that talk shit after they win. Michigan State and Boston College fit into that category, and unfortunately it has been much too frequent as of late. scUM was my first ND away game in '93, so the treatment I received as a member of the band from their fans made my previous life-long fanhood of the Wolverines disappear in a flash. I'm still shitting Stay-puft marshmallows.

O.K.

You go into the cheerleaders on the left.

I'll go into the ones one the right.

tankjeep, well, you run a crossing route.

Agree. Let's try some teamwork here:

HUDDLE! Someone screws usc. I screw the cheerleaders. tankjeep runs a crossing route.

On two on two. Ready? BREAK!

i got "next" on the cheerleaders.

forget the crossing route, that's where the fat flag twirlers step up.

I have serious disdain for USC. maybe its because I work with alot of f'n trojans.....my best friend bleeds SC like I bleed ND, and we go at it. Its funny how you compare them to the '80s Hurricanes; I make those very same comparisons, except USC is FAR WORSE. And let me tell you, as ND fan since 1985, I hated Miami (remember 3rd and 42? 45 yards gain for 1st down, ouch). But, I digress.....USC has had far more arrests for drugs, campus violence, violence against females, not to mention serious recruiting violations (Bush, McKnight in football. and lets not forget Robert Gulliory, and OJ Mayo in basketball). USC alums have some serious clout, serious bank, and some serious pull to make just about problem go away. As I tell my friends, just because they are not convicted, doesnt mean it didnt happen. who is going to get the benefit of the doubt - National Top Recruit MArk Sanchez, or some non-scholarship female student?(real story by the way) ..dont get me started on the USC 'alum network', where Mike Garrett is a major player, a shot-caller if you will. USC has an arrogant, blantant disregard for rules because they have gone so long without having to account for their actions. Example, Pete the Cheat called a press conference before UCLA game to announce he was going to break NCAA rules and wear Home jerseys on the road (I know the background of the jerseys, but rules are there to be respected; no respect for the rules = no respect for the game). Who has the arrogance to annouce ahead of time, apparently with no fear of any reprocussion, that is not going to follow the established rules? Why not tell the refs before the game, "Hey, Neuheisel and I agree that holding should not be called this game, so we would appreciate if you dont call holding, k thx". I hated to see Joe Paterno lose to SC in the Rose Bowl, it was such a contrast in class. The classless ones, who sold their souls and started to accept the prop 48 kids came out on top. Look at USC now, compared to when Rodney Pete was playing. I liked USC then, they were respected, and they respected other teams......before that UCLA game, where Pete the Cheat punked Neuheisel out of a timeout, in the tunnel with the 2 teams together, USC (wearing their home jerseys on the road, violating ncaa rules) showed their class, and respect for their opponent by chanting 'There's no place like home, there's no place like home" Fuck USC

the Rey Maualuga thing that happened, is microcosim of the whole state of USC. He calmly, deliberatly walked up on a woman, while she was in the work place, and began to grind on her. If some player walked into your work, and began to grind on a co-worker of yours, would you think it was highly inappropriate? who would do such a thing? who would not recoqnize that the woman is working? ...someone who is blantant, arrogant and has no fear of any consequences; just like pete the cheat, when he annouced he was going to wear the home jerseys on the road.
