Ok ladies and gentlemen get ready to show your expertise in picking the correct outcome of a sport we all love and enjoy, COLLEGE FOOTBALL! But more importanly you get the opportunity to show how much more you know than everyone's favorite football personality and so called expert Mark May, and let's just throw in Lee Corso for fun too while we're at it.
Prizes
Ok, I may have imbellished a bit. We all know the most important reason to play are to earn the bragging rights, and prizes. First place will recieve this sweet Game Time Men's Notre Dame Irish Coach Series Watch (Pictured Below), which will be provided and paid for by our new owners, for those that finish 2 - 5 they will recieve a free Irish Envy t-shirt which can be seen below as well.
How to Enter
This contest, unlike some in the future that'll only be open to Varsity Club Memebers, will be be open to everyone. Near the start of each week I will post a new sticky thread in the Fighting Irish Football Forum that will contain the games that you'll be picking. You will then need to post your picks for that week as a reply in the same thread. Then I will keep track of the standings in this thread, and try to update them in the early part of the following week.
Rules
1. You will need to enter your picks before the start of the first game on the week's pick 'em schedule, or if all games take place on Sat. before 12pm EST (Noon). There will ocassionally be games before Sat, like on a Thurs. but I will try to remind you if that is the case. If for some reason you are unable to get you're picks in before a Thurs. or Fri. game you may still enter your picks Sat morning you will just be unable to earn a win for the games already played.
2. There will almost always be 10 games to pick each week, with the one possible exception being the week of the conference chapionship weekend. When you make you're picks you need to write out the games and bold the winner, or write the winner off to the side of the listed games. Please do not just list the ten winners. I will use my post for the first weeks games as an example if you are still confusd after my explination.
3. Game of the Week - Each week I will be picking at least one game, possibly two or three if the standings are still tight late in the season, or if there are a few huge games on the week's schedule, to be the game of the week. For these game(s) you will need to attempt to pick the correct final scores of each of the teams involved in the game(s). The closer you are to the correct scores the more points you will recieve. These points will serve as tie breakers if two or more contestants are tied in the standings. You will not earn any points for the game if you pick the incorrect winner, even if you were dead on with one of the scores. (Example) - You gessed team A to beat team B 24 to 21. However team B won 28 to 24, so even though team A did score 24 points you do not earn any points. Possible points earned are as follows.
Points Values for the Game of the Week:
Within 1 point of a team's final score = 5 Points
Within 3 points of a team's final score = 3 Points
Within 7 points of a team's final score = 1 Point
This would give a contestant a chance to earn a maximum of 10 points for the game of the week if we are only having 1 GotW.
4. The standings will be determined by the number of games that are correctly picked, not the percentage of correctly picked games. Then the points earned will serve as the tie breakers in the standings. The contest will then conclude following the confrence championship week. At which time we will most likely be starting a Bowl Pick 'Em Contest.
5. Keep your panties on, get your boxers out of a wad, or however you want to phrase it and just try to kick back, relax and have some with this contest.
