(Did anyone hear about the 2 LSU fans who got shot by the Bama fan after the game following an argument about the team? I am digressing... Damn ADHD)

Iam still waiting on the punchline. I figured it would go something like this.

The local paper says noone was seriously injured though, and all involved went back home to their mobile home in Arkansas. Dad says the two sons decided not to press charges against him.

Nah. Normal world. What is abnormal is how close you were to the "truth" of the article. I will PM it to you later. Do you own any puppies?

Curious.

And I heard Mr. "GoIrish!!!" fart.

Sorry. My bad. I likes me some pastrami, but it doesn't like me. The good grub made me very happy despite knowing what kind of game I had waiting for me on Tivo. The game wasn't too bad watching the whole thing on fast-fast forward. Watched the whole thing in like 8 minutes. Then I farted again.

For whoever said give him 4 years, this is year 4. 2 Overrated teams to start and subsequent BCS blowouts to a 3-9 disaster squad. To a 5-4 team perched on the edge of oblivion.

Not good enough.

So, we fire Charlie and the new coach inherits Jimmy and Co. for two years. He takes them to BCS bowls, but struggles once they graduate. Circle of life.

I agree...the more I think about it the more I do not want to see Weis fired!!! Put down the koolaid and use logic...who the hell would take this job that is in their right mind? No one with a great rep and no one that could come close to out recruiting Weis. So, basically we are screwed either way and we will NOT be better off! Short term a good coach could really take the team far but will drop off the map the 3rd year!!!! The AD needs come out and tomorrow AM and squash all this BS before it hurts recruiting. He needs to firmly say that Weis will be the coach at ND and there are absolutly NO plans to change coaches for a long time. Whether it is true or not he needs to make it believable!!!!!

Yeah come up with a reason to fire Weis and have no names to share who would replace him. Real smart on ND's part. I agree we jumped the gun to quickly w/ an extension, but if he loses 1 of the 2 next games put him on the hot seat. ND has to much of high standards!! Give me some names who could replace him...

I've read Weis' post game press-confs after BC, and I don't believe he offered Clausen being ill as an excuse for his poor play. He did tell them he was sick, but he didn't offer it as an excuse. That is ESPN taking his comments out of context.

If there is one thing Weis has had plenty of practice doing, is taking the blame for losses, which he has done here as well.

This part of the article speaks volumes:

It's not as if Notre Dame was playing a team with superior talent, which was a point not lost on Boston College coach Jeff Jagodzinski.

''At our first team meeting this week, I asked our guys to raise their hands if they were recruited or offered [a scholarship] by Notre Dame,'' Jagodzinski said. ''None raised their hands. I told them they may not be good enough to be recruited by Notre Dame, but they were good enough to play for Boston College.''

All of this talk is crazy. The guy has been recruiting like a machine... Ty couldn't recruit shit.... no comparison. The Irish will finish 7-5 this year and look to next season as the year to make that leap into a top flight football power. If it doesn't happen next year... then we have a problem.

Does anyone know what the contract implications are? ND has signed a massive contract with CW. What is the buyout... anyone know? The answer to that might tell you what will happen this year.

Man... all this talk of CW being at risk really puts a kick in the ass to the recruiting efforts. I really wish they'd just won that game.

I mean... they came up a little anemic against Mich State, grante.... but they should have beat both NC and Pitt... but fell a bit short. BC was another anemic display... but that's going to happen to a young team every now and then. Let's settle down a bit.

yeah people need to realize that your quarterback is a sophomore, your best wideout a true freshman, golden Tate is a sophomore that never played receiver until last year.

I'm not making excuses because ND could have won at least 2 more games so far. But I will be worried if we don't win 10 games next year with our schedule..

Broheim,

They are 1-16 against teams with a winning record out of their last 17. We have a problem now. As to the recruiting mantra that I keep hearing, who says we have recruited well? Answer: Scouts and Rivals. Guess what, that means nothing if the talent doesn't show up in the field. I AM SO SICK OF THIS BOGUS GREAT RECRUITER NONSENSE.

Okay.... you're right MidwestGuy. Let's fire him. You convinced me.

Problem is... sadly he's probably the best coach ND can attract. NOBODY... and I mean NOBODY wants the job. It's pathetic how many times we've been turned down by coaches.

Oh Really? When was the last time that happened? I think it was 4 years ago. A lot has changed since then. Believe me, if you pay people enough money, they'll come.

Saying we should stay with a guy who is doing a lousy job because we might not find a better replacement is infantile logic. No offense.

So, you're saying that he's NOT a great recruiter? Or are you saying that he's not a great coach? I mean, are you saying we have talent and that he can't coach, or are you saying that we don't have talent (which in turn makes it impossible for anyone to be a 'good coach' w/ no talent)? I mean, pick one.

NO talent on the field? So Floyd has no talent? 5-star recruit, absolute stud. Tate? Stud. Clausen? Number one recruit in the nation, and sorry buddy, he's s soph putting up some huge numbers even though he has zero running game. Future star. B. Smith making plays. Cierre Wood and Shaq Evans on their way.

Dude, when you say things like he's not good at recruiting, you just reinforce the notion that you know nothing about football.

And hey buddy, sorry, but Rivals and Scout are pretty much IT when it comes to scouting services. Lord knows we don't want to count on guys like you, who says guys like Floyd are showing their talent on the field, to assess our recruiting.

I've said in many other posts I'm a CW backer. He deserves to take some heat; it's his team that looked crappy on Friday. It's my opinion that if he's fired after this year we will have to start all over and we'll have to regress before we get better (learning new systems will do that to you). And sorry, Lou Holtz is not walking through that door fellas. Big name coaches aren't dying to come to ND, unfortunately.

CW deserves 2009, if not just for his recruiting prowess, midwestguy. Not a good recruiter? Are you kidding me? Do you even have a clue of how hard it is to get top football athletes to come to SB? His list of potential recruits is sooooo much shorter than Nick Satan's and Urban Liar's et al. It's so sad that you have to say outlandish, stupid things just to get attention. Are you an only child? You know, it makes sense now that you like Mark May. You guys are basically the same. Hey man, relax, Jesus loves you, he'll give you all the attention you need.

Unlike lemmings such as yourself, I have no idea if he is a good recruiter or not. I know that Scouts and Rivals says he recruited great talent, but guess what. That and a buck fifty will get you a coffee at Starbucks. Unless that alleged talent shows up on Saturday, it is meaningless that some service says we have awesome recruits. Here is what I do know. Weis has had 3 recruiting classes of his own and they are 5-4 against a joke of a schedule. That tells me either he is a lousy coach and/or recruits inferior talent. In either case, it simply is not good enough.

After doing no better than...

Bob Davie (No head coaching experience
George O'Leary (Liar)
Ty Willingham (Do I really need to put anything hear?)

The story goes....

After losing big in the Urban Meyer sweepstakes, the Irish are trying to regroup. Iowa's Kirk Ferentz is another on the wish list that will be near impossible to wrestle from Iowa. They contacted and were rebuffed by Detroit Lions coach Steve Mariucci, as well as Tampa Bay Bucs coach Jon Gruden.

So we settled for Weis....

Yes... sadly people have turned down this job...

CW needs to get his team to play to their talent level against an outmanned Navy squad who will lay it on the line. I remember watching ND get wacked at Syracuse in Ty's last game. The team played with no heart like this team did against BC. CW has proven he can recruit, he has even demonstrated some coaching ability. Now he needs to motivate this team to play hard. We are really missing Senior leadership and will continie to for another year. Next year our Juniors will have more game experience than most seniors across the country and if they want to win for CW they will. We have something to prove the next 2 games and we better do it.

For those saying that we can't get rid of him because there isn't a viable candidate out there.....

WE HAVE ONE ON STAFF.

There's a certain guy we have on staff that was at the top of the list for several schools with head coaching positions open. But by some miracle we were able to get him as a position coach/"Assistant Head Coach."

When we did so, I posted on here that there had to have been some promises involved in that, as it made no sense on his part to come here when he could have taken a HC job.

Make no mistake, [NAME REDACTED]'s leash has been shortened considerably, and for once we have a viable replacement already in house.

TAH-NOO-TAH!!!!!!

If we lose to the swabbies in the next game, TAH-NOO-TAH will be the HC next year. Bank on it.

I doubt that. Not that I have anything particular against TAH-NOO-TAH, but I don't think that he's the answer either. A LOT better O-Line play (to where they can open good holes for our RB's) and this wouldn't even be an issue. The Irish would be sitting here w/ 2 losses max.!
