This is all on the play calling and that translates directly to coaching. Stop being conservative, go with what works and destroy these teams.

by the way midwest guy, i think you started this thread, please ignore this if you didnt.

but im assuming by elephant you mean charlie weis. and im assuming you say elephant b/c he is overweight.

well who the hell are you????? mr america????? you must be the most beautiful person on god's green earth.

saying stuff like that isnt funny, it just makes you sound like an asshole.

bringing up valid points is fine and encouraged. taking shots at someone's weight isnt funny.

grow up

It is an obvious play on the saying elephant in the room.

Stop being so sensitive about being fat. No one here said crap about Charlie or you being fat. However, since you asked, I look damn good.

Ugh I'm getting sick of Clausen. Maybe its just me?

He isn't perfect, but he did have 3 tds, no picks, no fumbles, etc. I think he has regressed a bit as far as avoiding pressure, and maybe finding the checkdowns etc.

Jimmy is inconsistent...probably to be expected of a sophomore. A little better play from him and the UNC and Pitt games flip to wins. I agree with the regressing though maybe that can be attributed to the caliber of defenses at UNC and Pitt. That USC game is going to be a beatdown.

A little better play from him may help, but not near as much as an Oline who plays up to ANYWHERE NEAR their potential, and a Dline who gets any pressure or the QB, or God Forbid makes a tackle on their own! Jimmy is not the problem, he could be better, but it would be a hell of a lot worse if he hadn't improved so much since last year.

I didn't mean to suggest Jimmy was THE problem, just interesting decision-making on his part in those two games. Watching the Texas/TT game right now...ND does not play with the same intensity.

I agree 100%. Why is that though? I wish CW was more emotional, it really seems to help motivate a college team. I'm really disappointed that Weis has had such up and down coaching. Most of us (true fans anyway) want him to succeed. Personally, I worry that the often mediocre play on the field will eventually cool off the hot recruiting we've had the past 2 or so years. If CW doesn't show bowl wins, results, upsets, etc, recruiting will drop off. They are committing based on potential now, that won't always be there.

Stop moving the ball, dude. We are STATING facts, not HATING. And while we are at it, why don't you go vote for the dumbest woman who has ever been a VP candidate on Tuesday.

We're talking important sh...tuff here..now why'd you go Palin on us? Oh and btw...I am positive she's smarter than Geraldine Ferraro.

I love the confidence he has to "go for it" in these situations. It breaks my heart to see a loss after 4 ot's but appreciate where we are compared to last year!

I agree with opines that opine that his playbook is too big. I watched the Austin/Lubbock game tonight and remember a quote that the Lubbock (Texas Tech to those that...) coach said he dumbed down the play book in order to let the guys play.

I still like ND's defense. I will opine that maybe lateral pursuit may help sometimes. Still lacking, but since this is the first D I have liked in years, maybe I am contradicting myself by getting nitpicky on them. I really like this D. But hate them.

I am so confused.

I think ND gonna kick some booty pretty soon. Maybe by next year.

They already won one more game than I thought they would. If they win one more and become a part of this stupid "bowl eligible and therefore we win a certificate of participation and spend all the money on hotel expenses and damages and get rid of some homo sportwriters imposed monkey on my back" then I hope they stay home and go home to momma.

P.S. I overslept through almost all the game. I overslept through the MSU game too.

Maybe God is protecting me. And you. Depression sucks.

I am through with this guy. Please explain to me why a guy would go for it on 4th down with a minute left on the 50 when the score is tied? I don't even do that crap in Madden. He is SUCH A BAD DECISION MAKER on game day.

Don't blame the team. Don't blame the FG kicker. Blame a guy who can't beat a team that got scorched by Rutgers last week.

Reminder. We haven't had a quality win in over 2 calendar years. HTFH.

You callin it like you see it my friend. So do I, so I can't argue with that. I don't understand why you have so many red dots under your moniker.

Oh well.

Beautiful.

Cool to vent though.

Some people (like me) need to vent privately on a WORLD WIDE forum where I know everyone in the world can keep my secret.

Guys, this is the same guy who argued for an entire thread that Cody Hawkins was better than Jimmy Clausen. The same Cody Hawkins who is so bad he lost his starting job to a freshman who was supposed to be reshirted (even though Cody's daddy is the coach). I mean, read this midwest guy's posts; there's a reason there's red dots under his name. Phork and other dissenters don't have the dots that this guy has. I mean, he talks politics on a football thread he started, gets called out on it, and then denies he did it. He used the right word: moron...

Obviously we have ZERO shot at beating USC. Even a total moron like Palin recognizes that. I have no belief that Navy is an easy win. Remeber, they beat us last year. I have no faith that we will beat BC in BC. BC will be so up for that game I fully expect us to lose.

If Palin is such a Moron yet she is Gov. of her own state and a self made Millionare then what does that make you?????

bottle the acid or that some time off

Yes, it's just you. You're expecting him to be some kind of college level Tom Brady or Peyton Manning? The kid is playing well. Is he playing like a superstar? Absolutely not. But he's playing well. This offense is one stud tailback away from being every bit as good as the Brady Quinn offenses. Note to Coach Weis, though:

Golden Tate is no kick returner. He looks lost trying to return kicks. The best kick returners are not always the fastest guys on the field.

He can return. I saw him in high school. Highly elusive. He can get loose, believe me. The inly thing that scares me about him returning kicks is injury. He is a playmaker and you have to have those guys in a position to get the ball as often as possible.

There is a HUGE difference between High School and DI-A college football. He was probably by far the fastest kid on the field, in High School. He is playing against at least an All County, if not an All State team, every week. He wants to dance too much, and takes too long to get headed straight up the field. Maybe he will learn this, given time, but he doesn't have it right now. Go back and look at the highlights of great returners like Tim Brown and Rocket. They moved laterally as little as possible, and got headed upfield as quickly as possible. You break kick returns by catching guys out of their coverage lanes. Getting upfield quickly means that you can take advantage of them being outside of their coverage lanes for even a moment.

I would like to see Harrison return punts. He runs straitgh ahead and with some authority. Could be another Zibby. Doesn't tippy toe around.

I know this is not high school anymore. He was clearly heads above all at that level. I was just saying that I have seen him break big ones and I have seen him do some amazing things on kick returns. He makes people miss. I have rolled my eyes at some of his efforts this year on kick returns too. So I agree with you somewhat. One thing though. I remember Rocket and Tim Brown returning kicks. Sometimes they could "take off" because there was noone within ten yards of them when they got the ball. (good blocking on punts). As far as kick offs go I think Tate does a good job hitting the gaps at full speed. Someone has to put a hat on someone though for the returner to have a chance.

I'm still waiting to see FOUR quarters of good ND football, hopefully the offense will be "full throttle" for four quarters against BC. This year has been a big improvement but the team still needs to learn to play the same the entire game.

Yeah, some are down and some are pissed... we need to realize all those who are saying we are fine and look towards BC aren't blind meatheads and those who are venting within the rules of the board aren't bad fans or pansies...

we could use some perspective on both sides right now

I hear ya man... we obviously had four quarters against Washington (but who hasn't) and the D is finally putting things together slowly but it would be a HUGE boost to see us go out and just CRUSH Fredo this weekend... seriously when was the last time we just KILLED someone on both sides of the ball, Purdue four years ago???... young or not this team has a giant talent egde on some of our opponents and it hasn't shown once in the last year and a half... we are seriously overdue for a homerun against a good team... hell even BAD teams have games like that where they come out of nowhere and just POUND someone... I don't believe we are close to being a "bad team" I feel very strongly that we are an above average border line good team who is very young and has a ton of talent... very frustrating waiting on everything to click for once

Clearly you have a reading comprehension problem. I never said Cody Hawkins was better than Clausen. I merely pointed out that both are mediocre QBs. Clausen has yet to beat a good team. By good I mean a top 50 team.

And the reason I have red dots under my name is because I pointed out that Palin is a mouth breather, which she clearly is to any independent thinker, and I dared to criticize Charlie.

I wear those red dots as a badge of courage.
