yeah but unless they are 'saving it', which against another D1 team come on, they are most likely not gonna use it at this point

unless you think CW doesn't trust the youth and O Line to exacute certain plays yet... and thus brings it out later when he sees improvement

either way, they have done nothing but telegraph the run to this point

Yeah. I don't think they will encorporate that into the playbook. It would be a good play but I never saw it w/ Quinn and Co. so I doubt we'll see it now.

Like you said, in the meantime, we just need to stop telegraphing the run so much.

That's just not true. If you can keep the defense guessing for even half of a second longer than you've gained an advantage. When you hear about quarterbacks doing the little things well they are talking about things like hiding the ball.
No. "They" are talking about things like handing off the ball correctly without fumbling.
The linebackers usually key on the quarterback
I was a "Mike" LB under a different defensive system. My keys were to actually ignore the QB and key off the guards.

The only situation when it's useless to hide the ball is in goal line or short yardage situations when it's obvious you're going to run the ball.
Why would you make it obvious that you are going to run the ball? Did you just contradict yourself here? Are you going to give me another red dot for disagreeing with you?:)

I side with Montana here... the more obvious a play is the less likely it is to work

Either you didn't read my entire post, or you did not understand it. Putting the ball out for everyone to see does not mean a darn thing. It can ensure a better hand off, or it can fool the defense when the QB pulls it out and runs bootleg (play-action). Your next post proves my point.

So you say I don't understand you, then state what I already have and take total credit for it....

nicely done

I too played ball as I am sure Montana did. I coach I scout for HS now and I can tell you with certainty... (not just YOU, but everyone here) just b/c one team uses a LB or a guard one way means nothing in regards to the next team... obviously

I still stand that telegraphing ANY play is bad news espec. since the entire reason for doing so is a misidrection play or PA that we have not done (and possibly have not been able to) once this year... the results of our running game shine brightly on my point here... JC hands the ball off that way 9/10... 9/10 we get stopped for a loss or at best a yard to two... now obviously the O line and the ball carriers vision play into as well but so does the exchange

Agree wholeheartedly with ACamp (especially when he's not discussing personal grooming habits around his private parts.)

I live in DC and when Mark Rypien played for the Skins. he was a master at execution discipline. He rode out every fake, every play. And like I said before, if you do it consistently, the payoff is huge. Because the return on your effort is realized around the goal line, or when it's 3rd and short.

That .2 seconds of confusion and misdirection is a fantastic piece of leverage. I bet if you studied film of QB's like Rypien, you'd see the value time after time.

P.S. I've always been a fan of the Delaware Wing T because of the mis-direction. Similar to the sets ND ran with Lou. Again, the kids have to be really coached up for it to work.

Now I am the one that doesn't understand...

I got so confused by that first sentence that my head spun around, I farted, then fell backward in a dizzy spin...

Last night at about 10:09 p.m. (but the time stamp shows today at 1:09 a.m.), I stated that showing the ball is o.k, because next time, the qb can run bootleg.

Today at 11:06, you stated that you agree with NDMontana.

AT 11:12, in your second post, the one I was referring to, you wrote "NFL just brooke down the strech play that the Falcons used against GB this weekend.... they went play action out of it and it was wide open for a TD..." (I copied and pasted that quote).

That is exactly what I wrote about happening in my post last night. So, your second post entirely validated my point.

Today, at 11:26 a.m., Montana then said the exact same thing I said: "Absolutely. At the very least fake the hand off and run a qb boot the other way. JC could throw or run off the boot."

So, who copied whom? Who's on first base? I don't know. Third base.

I just farted.

In high school we played against a team that was, on average 40 lbs. lighter and 2 inches shorter. I could pick up the guard and easily toss him aside (I was the "Mike" in a "52 base" D Problem is, I could never find the friggen ball. They ran a beautiful version of the wing T. We pummeled them physically, but the final score was something like 35 - 14.

That wasn't a "glory days" story. We got blown out by the physically weakest team we played all year. My point was that the misdirection and perfect execution helped a lesser team destroy a stronger team.

Robinson at Grambling St. ran Wing T forever. It was always exciting to watch.
