So bizarre. In my suburb, NONE of the gas stations have gas. The numbers are all down, the pumps covered. Its been like this for a week, since the hurricane. If it doesn't get better in the next couple of days, they are going to close the schools.

How is it in other places?

Hmmm. Thats NUTS! Gas is abundant as usual here. Its just that we have to pay 4.09 for regular unleaded. Nothing like bending over and taking it in the ass without a kiss.

Would it really be OK if you got a kiss with that? I don't think so.

Back on topic....Arizona hasn't been affected so far. We're paying about 3.45 a gallon right now which is the cheapest it's been in a long while. I figure with oil going up over the last couple days it won't last much longer.

I thought I heard some news about some mechanical problems with some of the refineries out in the east. But, I don't know any details.

its starting to get very squirrelly here too. People are getting into fights in the long lines when they actually find gas, the stations that get gas are putting $10 limits on the pumps. The last gas I bought was Sunday and it was $4.79 for regular.

That's just insane. I know gas has been high, but somebody needs to step in and do something. When there is a natural disaster there are laws that are supposed to protect us from price gouging. For instance, the government monitors prices for things like plywood when a community is preparing for a hurricane. Business owners can go to jail for taking advantage of people who are in need like that.

part of the problem is that Atlanta has to use some cleaner form of gas so that we don't end up like Beijing. Which is fine as I like my lungs until a hurricane hits. They eased that restriction but they are saying that it won't help until Tuesday.

Schools were closed for two days because of gas shortages after Katrina.

i was talking to a friend down in atl yesterday, livonia to be exact and she was saying the same thing. i thought it was quite odd as there is no issue here in the northeast and our prices are actually cheaper at this point. but i guess the last post might make some sense of the whole situation. odd to find this out here, and thank you all :)

CA which usually leads the nation is doing alright on supply and price. CA gas comes from CA refineries only b/c of the more stringent air quality laws. so the lack of supply from the TX refineries isn't affecting us.

Its just so bizarre. There is no gas for 30 or so miles around. The stations get it randomly and then it is gone as soon as they put up the numbers.

We are supposed to go to Athens Saturday for the UGA v Bama game and have less than a quarter tank of gas. I have to drive to work two days and I don't think I have enough to get out of the city to places where they do have gas for the game.

NC seems to be fine on the gas situation, but on the mountain we're running out. I can understand why we aren't getting any up here but ATL is a shocker.

I don't believe any of the "causes" that have been explained. I will express my outrage at the situation, but not name names. I have done so before and have been reminded of how small I am. The challenge inspires greatness, even if it means simply being nice to your neighbor. My heart is with you, and I will follow this story and form an opinion. And keep it to myself. LOL.

Yeah you wouldn't even know there was a problem the way things are out here... the prices aren't that bad right now either.... at least for out here

$3.66 here in sw florida. The city I live in is magically out of regular right now but has plenty of higher priced gas.

$3.29 tonight here in Cleveland. That seems really odd. Lowest it's been in months.

Should be 1.70

Fuck all of you who voted for Bush twice.

Fuck you.

I am a conservative.

And you think Obama will fix this? He will fix things alright, taking guns, and taxing everyone more than they are now. Health insurance for everyone, someone will pay for this stuff. People like me.

What a difference a week makes.

Last Saturday I was up at 5:00 am, drove around for an hour and then when I finally found gas, sat in line for two hours to pay $4.79 a gallon with a limit of $40.

Today, gas everywhere and its below $4.00
