We need to beat them the same way USC beat Virginia, if not, we have a lot of work to do.

i'm looking for a 50 spot on the board with total domination. there is no reason to "hide" anything from anyone. we were 3-9 last year for Christ's sake. come out guns ablazin and lay the wood. get the crowd involved early and often. i want to see push-ups all over the stadium all day long. giddyup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's no reason for us not to beat these chumps by at least 4 or 5 touchdowns. They lost to cal poly tech for christs sake. If for some reason we win by less than 2 touchdowns it will be a failure in my opinion. GO IRISH!

I am upping my prediction. I am going with 52-10.

Clausen throws for 235 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Hughes Allen and Aldridge all rush for a TD and Allen returns a kickoff for a TD.
Kamara catches 2 TD's with Rudolph gettign the other.

Our schedule is WEAK. GD93 might be right....

I hope the team doesn't do into the game with the same attitude yall's have on here. If they think they can just show up for any team and win just `cuz they r ND then we are in for another disappointing season. Hope C.W. keeps these kids heads down and they play like its USC every weekend.

that seems very unlikely to me. the only teams that put up that many points in their first games were USC and Florida. OSU came close with over 40. but our offense has never been as efficient as those offenses. also, SDSU has not given up those kinds of points and has played other good D1 teams in years past.

Remember what Lou always said, A times biggest improvement will be from week 1 to week 2. SDSU has a game under their belts and knows what to correct. We should beat them, but anyone that thinks it is not a success if we win by less than 4 or 5 TD should re-think that. I doubt CW and company would really embarrass another team the why other schools do. I would rather win 31 - 14, control them game, empty the bench and put in some stuff for future team to have to think about.

I see what you are saying, but to me, this is the time to make a statement that last year was a fluke. A shutout would be nice!

We went 3-9 last year. We were blown out by early in the 3rd quarter in most of those losses. Are depth is just finally beginning to take hold, but most of are best athletes, the kind we need to compete against the OSU's of the world, are freshmen and sophmores. To me, we still are pretenders until we beat somebody good, which, judging by yesterday's results, is going to be a looooonnnnnggg ways away. 2 days ago, we were hoping for 7-9 wins. Now just 48 days later we're talking like a bunch of GD93's, expecting 11 wins and 50 points vs. SDSU.

I'm as excited as the rest, but we haven't even played yet. I'm not expecting anything because none of us knows how good we are going to be. Some of us got a little too excited after yesterday's results. I'm just waiting for us to play first, then I'll be able to assess how much well we should compete. I will say this: with all the additions in athletes and in the coaching staff, I think we have a chance to surprise a lot of people. Like CW said last year: "Get your laughs in now, because you won't be laughing at us in the future" (or something to that effect)...

"bunch of GD93" come on man I am just excited about the Irish and the guys predicting a 40-50 point outting in the opener are not that far off in my opinion.

They could predict a 100 point blowout and you'd agree. I'm excited as hell about the season and I'm glad there are others like you just as excited. But I'm a realist. Last year, our O-Line was the worst in football. Yeah, they gained weight, but we don't know how they'll be. Our D-Line couldn't stop the run nor put pressure on the QB, and we lost our best player. And that's just the beginning. I know I sound like a wet blanket, but I'm just saying to hold-off on the 50 pt blowout predictions until we actually see the team play.

We sound like the USC yahoos that I have to listen to on the radio every day out here. Their radio guys always predict 50-7 blowouts, no matter the opponent. It's hilarious. Of course, they're right a lot (sadly). But last year they were predicting a 60 point win vs. Stanford (I'm not kidding, it was unbelievable), and Stanford ended up beating them. Now we want to say w should be beating teams by 50? I'm just saying, slowdown.

Having said that: ND 75, SDSU 3!!!! Go Irish!

I like the last two predictions!!!! I am IN on that.

LOLOL...i just want total domination. watching that mess last year was so tough, especially living in penn state country. i hope tenuta's hiring brings heat to opposing QB's. i want picks for six, sacks and overall intensity. is that too much to ask for? we need to take it to a new level this year. i can't wait for next saturday. GO IRISH!

I agree...I want total destruction on their arses in the first half.....then a second half full of 2nd and 3rd stringers.

The lines for next weeks games just came out and the Irish are 20 point favorites over San Diego State.

Maybe San Diego St. overlooked Cal-Poly. Let's stop talking like Notre Dame isn't a cupcake also.

Let's Go Dame!!!

I still say wait and see... expecting a 50 point thumping can only lead to dissapointment...
lt's at least wait to see the team has improved before we all call for a crushing Michigan and this and that

My outlook for the game is a lower scoring game for the Irish... SD State had four defensive lineman injured in their last game... This should give us a chance to really dominate the running game this week... running the ball will shorten the game alot with less plays being run from both teams. Also if we just run some basic passing plays we can deny the ability of Michigan to study film of our entire passing attack which we will need to score against their strong defense.

I think ND wins 31-10 but how you guys think they will put up so many points when we could barely score a TD last year and went 3-9 is beyond me!!!! And please do not get on here Saturday evening and predict a National Championship if we do when 45-0!!!!

I would like to see a good win, and show signs of improvement to build on for the rest of the season. I think 21 like the line says would be a good win. Also this is the first game of the year so everything may not be clicking on all cylinders, hopefully everything is clicking though . This is why I like to play a weaker team early on in the season, it gives you a game to figure out what adjustments you need to make, and it also gives the players game action to work on their chemistry with each other.

I think we are going to try to stick the ball down their necks. Clausen will have a workman like 12-15 passing with over 300 yards rushing for the team. We will force at least 3 TO's and win 31-0
