he is presently on the depth chart at the Sam(strongside) linebacker spot. we'll have to see whether that's in all packages, nickel packages, 3-4 packages, etc.

I say LB this season just to have his athleticism on the field then after Bruton leaves he moves back to his normal position.

it should be interesting to see where they play hime after this season especially with the lb class we have as freshman and then the guys coming in next year. if we teo or jenkins plus i think carlo may be a freshman stand out. hes already huge

I was thinking he might be best suited at safety like a Tommy Zbikowski.

SAM linebacker (outside backer over the tight end) or at safety if Burton or McCarthy need a breather.

So will Harrison beat out Toryan Smith at linebacker?

Toryan Smith and Harrison play different positions....Harrison is a OLB, Toryan is an ILB.

From what I have heard/read Harrison is playing OLB, and Safety

From what I have heard the LB corp will look like.....Crum, B. Smith in the middle. Neal and H. Smith on the outside, and I think K. Neal is going to be playing more with his hand on the ground.

I hate the spread just like I hated the run and shoot... These quarterbacks get Heismans for throwing the ball about 5 yards and watch the wr skitattle for 50. Then it's oh what a throw. IDK. I'm old school. I like smashmouth football... Anytime one of those types of teams play a smashmouth team 90% of the time I'm routing for the running team. Of course if it's OSU then your ememy's enemy is your friend... Of course if OSU is playing UM you hope they bash each other into oblivion. You get the point.

Back to the point of the thread. Harrison is going to be a hybrid ss/lb and from what I hear he is going to be on one of those "Big Hit" highlight reels this fall...

I think Harrison will impress but wondering if it will be at safety where he is behind mccarthy and bruton or linebacker behind brian and toryan smith.

I know that B. Smith is an ILB this year and I believe that T. Smith is in a back up role on the inside. H. Smith is basically a OLB with the option to sub back at safety depending on who needs a blow.

Haven't seen him play yet so he reminds me of someone I haven't seen play yet...

But we have read about him and he seems to have the same motor of a Tommy Z. I am excited to see him finally play.

Seeing him in camp, and scouting reels, he seems to have more lateral movement and quickness than Tommy Z. Tommy was more of a point a to point b straight line runner, all be it at a elite level. Harrison has the skills to me more versatile in space. I agree with the previous post of letting him play and then we can draw unfair comparisons. I still think we need to recruit D Lineman based on the amount of body hair...look at Zorich..that man was like Bigfoot with a Golden Helmet!!! God I miss that guy playing for us.

how could he impress at safety if he is behind the 2 starters? how can he be behind B. Smith and T. Smith if he is the starting Sam LB?

I know LaLota is being recruited as more of a DE/OLB type, but I can see LaLota being as much of a beast as Zorich. I really hope he commits, and soon.

Anyway, Harrison Smith will be playing SAM in strong nickel packages, as a counter to the spread offense.

In all other cases he's a #3 Saftey behind both McCarthy and Bruton.
