The problem with Irish fans is they always expect more than is objectively likely, and they frequently expect more than is humanly possible.
Irish go 13-0 this year, you can put that in the bank.
I can never understand why you can only be respected for your college football knowledge and your overall status as an astute sports fan if you show a negative or pessimistic view of the upcoming year. Why is it bad to say, "My team is going to kick your team's butt this year!"? Does it make me a good quality fan if I only point out why we shouldn't win? That is what is so beautiful about college football and sports in general. Anything can happen on any given day. That is why they still go out and play the games.
Do we have a lot of question marks? Absolutely. Do we know how the season is going to play out? Absolutely not. I wish we did because I would make a killing in Vegas.
I believe the team this year can go 10-2 or even better. Does that mean I know less about football because I am filled with hope and optimism? I probably do know less than other people here, but I never claimed to be an expert. I just claimed to be a die-hard fan.
I choose to drink the Kool-aid dammit! Under the influence of that Kool-aid I have seen a lot of amazing moments in sports. I choose to hope beyond all hope every, single year no matter what the circumstances because I believe in this team and this University with every ounce of my being. Until I am proved wrong (and it wouldn't be the first or last time I am wrong) I am going to believe in this team and I am going to swear they will win every game they play.
Call me whatever you want for believing the positive chances for our team. Copy my post and rip it apart. Say I am dumb for drinking the Kool-Aid or whistling past the graveyard. Insult my sports knowledge, say I don't know anything and how can I be so stupid to think this team will do better than 6-6. I DON'T CARE! I have lived in USC territory my whole life - I can take anything you can dish out because I have to put up with it from all those Trojan a-holes every day! I choose to believe so pour me another friggin' glass of Kool-Aid!
GO IRISH!!! GO GET 'EM BOYS!!!
Most know I'm in the middle here I expect a good rebuilding year that hopefully ends in a bowl win... d
