Every year there is a guy or a couple of guys on the team that when you say their name people think of ND. You have joe montana, chris zorich, rick mirer, jerome bettis, arnez battle, brady quinn, and most recent ZIBBY. In different times you could mention one of these names and people knew who you were talking about. So my question to you is who on the 08' roster is gona be the guy who defines ND?

my pick is jimmy, he has the talent and the personality to lead this team and will do things in his career to make people remeber him (his scene at the college football hall of fame).

I know he hasn't even suited up yet, but I am looking forward to seeing great things out of Dayne Crist. He reminds me so much of Brady Quinn, which is definitely a good thing. I heard an interview recently that said while he was on his recruiting trip, Weis looked at him and said that if he was scared to come to ND considering they had JC and 3 other scholarship QBs (at the time DJ and Frazier were still there) already he understood. Crist looked at him and told him he was up for the challenge and came anyways. Thats the kind of stuff you like to hear from your QB of the future.

I dunno.....deep in my gut I think he could be a bigger bust than Powlus. Hoping that's not the case, obviously but it's definitely on my mind. Just the way he comes off cocky (maybe undeserved but that's the general impression) in the media and the whole flash of his signing at the CFHoF (again, maybe undeserved but that ain't Notre Dame style). Just seems like he's set himself up for a major letdown. Don't get me wrong, I was happy as hell when he decided to come to ND and I want to see him lead the team to a NC but if he busts, I won't be all that surprised.

while i understand what you are saying, the CFHoF was his dad's complete idea and i remember reading he really didnt want to do that. And from what I have heard from students, he really isnt cocky at all, he is really quiet. Idk, maybe he is, but from what i have heard he isnt.

Hey its ok, pull a mark may. Be like Missourri, he has to show you first :D

Lets not forget what an animal Kerry Neal will be this year. Opposing qb's, beware. This is your last warning.

I'm no Mark May but there's something to be said for leading by example...and with respect to that, he's not shown much....though you can't blame him for everything considering the horrible offense we had last year.

I want him to be successful in the worst way but at this point the picture painted of him when someone hears his name, is the bling bling bs at the HoF, not what he's done on the field. If that truly was his Dad's idea, well then, shame on dad and it's too bad the kid has to live with it.

I like the mention of Kerry Neal....that kid was very impressive.

Kerry Neal, good choice, he has major star potential

i think you guys are forgeting that jimmy had elbow sugery last year and he wasn't 100%. Also he wasn't able to hit the weight room till this winter. He shouldn't have been on the field as soon as he wash, he just simply wasn't ready. BUT he did get valuable pt and game experence, now that he is healthy he will keep improving until he reaches his full potential. He will be better this year you will see.

My vote is for Crist as well. take out the fact that he hasn't played a down, I know he's an ND guy. have you listened to this guy speak about the University of Notre Dame, tradition, family, teammates, religion etc...? He is my leader right now when it comes "most popular".

Based on the little that I've seen of him on film and the Blue-Gold game...

My vote goes to...

Gary Gray.

The kid makes plays, he's a ball hawk and he's got that swagger that I hope everyone else gravitates to and takes a little bit of it for themselves.

Crum will be huge. He will be the anchor of our super star D. Clausen is already a household name. We have too many good backs for one to stand out but look out for Freshman of the YEAR Michael Floyd and Duval Kumara. Don't forget GOLDEN TATE. He has big play written all over him. I am getting pumped just thinking about all of our future stars.

He should be getting the bulk of the carries and it shouldn't even be close!

Darrin Walls!

I look for big plays from him this year.
