this was mentioned in the watch party thread. This is a JOKE:

At best this ref had an insane power trip, at worst he found a way to extend USCs drive on purpose….

Could be or it could be a situation where the ref warned the sideline multiple times. Worked chains quite a bit and it was very common for the refs to give a team multiple warnings. Who knows.

Reily to Texas Tech. Been calling it since the off season
Who's gonna hire the Texas Tech coach though? Dude seems like a goober whose shtick won't play outside Texas and who's only (barely) as good as the roster that has been bought for him.

A lot of IFs here, but IF Jeff Traylor gets poached, that would open up the UTSA job. And IF Tech moves on from McGuire, that would a landing spot that makes sense.

Maybe not the ideal financials, but he can recruit Texas only and get a lot of in-state kids that the big schools are not targeting.

It's the same penalty that get called against UGA in the Sugar Bowl against us a couple years ago. Any time contact is made, it's automatically a penalty, not simply a sideline warning. In the UGA case, the reef was pursuing a play down the sideline and didn't see the player he ran into, while contact was easily avoidable in this case.
A, the Sugar Bowl one was while the play was happening, so not the same. Ref wasn’t ever looking at the kid from Georgia.

B, this is after the play to spot the ball. I’ve seen numerous refs running over in situations like this and push coaches back, giving them the ole “hey back up guys, back up” without throwing a flag.

SC boosters have to be reaching out to Urban Meyer
Worst case scenario if true. He be Carroll 2.0 imo. We can hate Urban all we want, but he's reptillian when it comes to winning. He'd have the talent base and some deep nil purse strings. And he'd insist on playing ND.

Might be worse than Belichick. His before-its-time offense is now behind the times, and age/health/energy would be real issues.

Well that’s not too fair, Lincoln Riley is always guaranteed to lose 4 games at SC
I couldn’t find my original post. Pretty sure that I picked a worse record earlier in the summer. I honestly wouldn’t have been shocked by 6-6 this year. They had a tough schedule and that was before we knew ucla was good. It’s only to their benefit that IU and OSU are having QB issues. And they’ll still probably lose.

Ok, but am I the only one that wants USC to win just enough to keep him but stay out of the playoffs? Because of my hate for USC, I'm a huge Lincoln Riley fan!!!
Ideally, they have to spend a shit ton on his buyout, lose all their good players in the portal, and then spend a fuckload to hire the next coach who turns out to be even worse. That's the best-case scenario here.

(though, yes, if they beat one of Ohio State/Indiana/UCLA they won't make the playoffs, but will perhaps do enough to extend his mediocre tenure, and could help us in the at-large playoff race by handing a Big Ten contender a second loss).
