The only explanation I can think of is if you’re down by 4 instead of 5, then you score another touchdown and you’re up by 3 instead of 2, so an opponent field goal only ties you instead of beating you. Seems really contrived though, a lot of variables have to go your way.

Apparently Cignetti remembered he was playing Nebraska and this strategy would work 😂
