Breaking News! It was just announced on WNDU Channel 16 in South Bend that Kevin White is leaving Notre Dame to take a position at Duke University!!!

I just heard on the local news that Kevin White is leaving Notre Dame for Duke. The story was first released by a Raleigh newspaper. There are no links online as of yet that I could find. I heard the story on WNDU...the local NBC affiliate for South Bend.

I think we can upgrade as far as an athletic director. I am not unhappy over pencil-neck's departure.

As this is usually a fairly family-friendly board, I can't say the first five responses I had to this news. I actually wasn't all that unhappy with Alleva leaving Duke; that is, until I heard this news. Please, if there are any Kevin White supporters on this forum, talk me down off the ledge! OK, that's being a little melodramtic, but seriously, should I be more positive about this hire at Duke?

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that I'm fully prepared for a wave of Duke hatred to wash over me. I'm a big boy and I can take it, but I would appreciate if, after any and all venom has been discharged, any of you regulars could give me some insight into this matter.

I am not sure about this, but I suspect change is good after 8 years. I wish White the best and hope we get a great AD to replace him.

AMEN! Jumbotron???? at Notre Dame??? I'm still bitter about building the new stadium over the old one. You cant see the house that Rockne built anymore. I know its bigger and better now but I'm all about tradition man. Why not go all out and put "Notre Dame" in the endzones and a big "ND" in the middle of the field too. JumboTron. See ya Dr. White.

I am not so upset with the idea of expanding the stadium (people like me with limited connections would like the opportunity to get tickets every now and then), but the way it was done. Blocking the view of "Touchdown Jesus" on the library was ridiculous. Why not just build up down both sidelines? I am still ticked.:soapbox:

I doubt it though. All of them said they were really happy with where they were at and they weren't interested in moving to another position.

I'm not the least bit unhappy about this. I felt this is a long time coming. Dr. White needs to be at a place where football doesn't reign superior. He has done a piss poor job with, not only hiring HC's in the past, but, with his continued dumbing down of our future football schedules, he has really proved that he has no idea about our football past and traditions.

To be the best, you have to play the best, and then beat the best. San Diego St., Nevada, Baylor, Utah, the Coast Guard Academy, and the Merchant Marine certainly does not apply to being in the best category in terms of teams we could find to play.

What about Tommy Turtleneck, aka Tom Jurich from UofL. He got them on the map. I'm personally not a fan of his cuz he seems arrogant, but he did the job at UofL for sure.

Thank God!!! It's about time. I think KW's contract ran through 2012 also, so I think this might have been a mutual decision. Hope this means the end of prostituting ND football for $$$. I wonder if Duke basketball will now play Kent State in Tenn?

When has ND not prostituted it's football team for money???

Let's be serious now, the dome of ND is gilded with REAL GOLD...that did not appear through student tuition. ;)

No big deal. He'll take the same mind set in scheduling games for Duke's football team as he did for the Irish: crap teams that do nothing for your NC hopes when you beat them.
