It just gets better and better in California.

  • Gavin Newsom's approval of AB 130 adds up to $324,000 per new home or apartment in California through Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) mitigation fees buried on page 137 of the bill.
  • The provision, part of 2025 CEQA housing reforms intended to speed construction, allows local agencies to impose fees offsetting transportation and climate impacts from new development, with the high-end estimate drawn from a Los Angeles program example of $16,200 annually over 20 years.
  • Critics highlight how existing mandates already inflate building costs by around $197,000 per unit, arguing this risks further harming affordability despite the bill's goal of increasing housing supply, while implementation details are due by July 2026.

This type of opinion has to be the most peasant brain shit.

Me lord you’re correct, my simple furnishings aren’t able to match up to your estate, you should have more of a say than I me lord.
I don't understand what you're trying to say. Are you agreeing that the gerrymander is disenfranchising the poorer parts of VA and consolidating power of five different congressional districts in four of the seven highest income counties in the country?

I’m saying that being upset that elections aren’t determined on land mass is peasant brained.

The problem with the Virginia gerrymander (to me) isn't about richer counties and poorer counties.

It's about representation more generally. It's not exclusively a Virginia thing or a Dem thing or a Rep thing. More broadly, drawing maps with bizarre and inexplicable lines makes difficult to represent the people in it.

I get that sometimes the way population is distributed in a state might cause some goofy shapes. But thats not what's really happening now.

The states should be treading lightly with these things. Playing with fire leads to burns.

I don’t think that’s at all what I’m saying. But there are five districts that terminate in the DC suburbs that have a width of like 10 miles.

Oh, well Gorilla_Rape (the tweet you posted) seemed to be upset that people were taking away the voting rights of the land masses.

And in a case of WTF, and not all that surprised, comes this gem. Surprised no Dem posted this:

Between 2014 and 2023, the SPLC secretly funneled more than $3 million in donated funds to individuals who were associated with various violent extremist groups including the Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Nations, and National Socialist Party of America

The American Left, funding the Klan since 1865

View attachment 3063078

I expected more about this. Where were all the posters that were clutching pearls about the KKK showing up at conservative events? How desperate do you have to be to pay a group like this to try and make the opposition look bad? It's not even like this was a one off thing, aside from these most recent allegations it happened with paid actors a few years ago in the Youngkin race in Virginia and other events.

And just for the lulz
[EDIT] Won't link, but the text was changed to "SPLC trying to stop hate crimes"

I'd like to apologize to some of the people here for my insensitivity. I've had fun the past couple of days with the whole SPLC scandal about them funding racist hate groups and having them engage in acts of white supremacy and racial violence so that the SPLC could then collect even more in donations to the fight the very things they've been funding. I know, I know. It was low hanging fruit and none of us were actually surprised to find that the founders of the Klan were still funding the Klan 160 years later, but I now realize that there were real people hurt by exposing the SPLC's funding of such racist and hateful acts.

He should talk to Spanberger, although NYC is probably on top of creating new revenue via taxes.

Virginia Democrats, operating under Governor Abigail Spanberger, introduced over 50 new tax proposals and increases in the 2026 legislative session. Key proposals include a delivery tax on online orders, a new gun and ammunition tax, new higher income tax brackets (up to 10%), and new taxes on services such as dog walking, dry cleaning, and gym memberships.

New unconstitutional gun laws just in time for my move back to Virginia. Going to need to stock up on lower receivers

Damn, turns out despite campaign promises, governing on no homework, double recess, and free cookies for lunch isn’t an effective way to run a city

NYC's annual budget is $120 billion. Chicago's budget is about $17 billion. New York only has about 3x the population.

I'm sure its not exactly apples/apples for a number of reasons but holy shit

He was handed a $5.4 billion dollar deficit, he's proposed $1.7 billion in cuts already. Sure it's the free buses fault.
