i wonder how Northwestern figures into all this midwest recruiting and even more so the Chicago area recruiting when they open that shiny new stadium on campus this fall that looks really impressive from video images on youtube
I'll save you the suspense: the way they always have.

I don't think the difference between Cooper and Burrell is substantial, but Cooper attacks the ball better in the air and is an excellent "high pointer" and the general consensus is that he's going to be half a step faster at the next level.
On3 stated its shaping up to be a UM/ND battle and Singer said he didnt think Mich would be a major player in the end. I dont know how to read this one, good prospect thats local. if he lived in Virginia, would we care about him at all?

Given the board, Cade is a must get to me. Speed isn’t great but IDK if I’ve seen better body control and ability to high point the ball in traffic, ever.

Ever that I’ve seen. Which is probably not a large sample.

For your own enjoyment, here are arguably the two best contestested catch / high pointers of the football that we've ever seen. Genuinely watch the film and enjoy. Generational talents.

Larry Fitzgerald (Pitt Highlights)

Randy Moss (NFL Highlights)

Thought it was interesting that a Noles insider on 247 put in 2 predictions. One was Gamble to ND and the other was Julius Jones to Oregon.

i believe on the Singer and Kelly recruiting podcast one of them was saying how the elder Jones is always in the ear of his son's teammates and if true that would make his son going elsewhere other than to ND seem weird

I know we took a bunch last year, but not sure I would want us to only take 2 WRs in a class with home much attrition comes with that position

On the other hand, if we can take undergrad transfers now, it should be easy to fill any needs there with the abundant talent in the portal.

I do agree, WR should be three minimum. But with the undergrad WRs now a thing for ND, roster attrition can be supplanted quite easily.

Put that class into the 247 class calculator but switched out Starcevic for Simien and Roman I for one of the LBs and we come in at a class score of 299, good for #2 last year

That Singer class is eerily similar to the one I last posted last week as my current "best guess".

I agree with Mike on a lot of those players. I'd be a little disappointed if they didn't land another DE given who they're in on and I'd like a 3rd WR as well.

Agree with all of this. Would prefer an upgrade at LB 2…do like Fox as a defensive athlete

I would to, while the following context in mind. If ND lands to class Singer is predicting, it means that ND didn't land any of the "shooting for the stars" type targets they're after and aren't already considered the leader / co-leader for. I'd like to think that the combination of Marcus Freeman as a recruiter and the potential for ND go on a playoff run, drawing both interest and additional cash into the program, might be enough to sway 1-2 top end guys from the list of:

CB John Meredith
CB Josh Dobson
LB Kaden Henderson
DT Marcus Fakatou
DE Mekai Brown
DE KJ Green
WR Easton Royal
WR Xavier Sabb
WR Julian Caldwell
WR Osani Gayles
OL Albert Simien
OL Oluwasemilore Olobubola

Personally, I think that landing the class that Singer projected, but going 0-12 from the list above, would be a small recruiting failure in my opinion. While ND might not be the leader for any of those players currently, those are the types that could put the class over the top and entrench it among the top 5.

Happy you said it. Looking at the projected class, I would be incredibly whelmed. A lot of solid players who would contribute to helping build a championship team. However, each class needs game changers and I just do not see a lot in that class. It could be a very simple fix with one more hit at WR, DE, and any other position (Simien, OO, or Henderson). Gayles is supposed to visit this week and I hope we get some traction with him

Are all elite, top 50 type talents. I think we’re getting a little spoiled.

Many of these have the potential to be so. But I mean consensus top 50. How many of these guys are?

Pretty well all of those guys are the types that already project to ND (with the exception of maybe Sesay) or have connections to ND and SHOULD be landed when ND is winning and recruiting well. We are talking about landing those couple commitments that don't usually profile to ND, but through recruiting, winning and financial incentive you managed to sway them.

Julius Jones Jr: ND legacy.

Jaxon Dollar: ND landing a top 3 TE in a class given their TE lineage is nothing new.

Layton Von Brandt: ND always lands top 50-100 OL types. ND is OL U.

David Folorunsho: A DT from a Catholic School in Chicago, coached by ND legend Tom Zbikowski. Profiles for ND.

Abraham Sesay: The one kid on your list that I think is a stretch. ND is largely winning because they hired half of Penn State's recruiting department under James Franklin, who he is close to. Good job here.

Aidan O'Neil: A Jersey Catholic School player? ND lands those regularly.

Xavier Hasan: Committed to Mickens, who was the best college CB coach in the country and is going to stick with the class and give ND the benefit of the doubt. Also from an area of North Carolina that ND has been recruiting well for a while.

None of the above guys should be overlooked or dimished, but if ND is really "cookin" on the recruiting trail they're landing the above guys and a couple others that don't generally profile for ND. That's what I'm looking to see. Among the 12 guys I posted, the majority don't make "immediate sense" for ND, but a couple should be able to be landed when ND is winning at a high level and Marcus Freeman is driving the recruiting effort.

Spot on, have to start landing 1-2 of these guys consistently and especially in a cycle like this one. It's tiresome watching certain schools stockpile these type of players year after year.
