So this is a much more reasonable post for me,… I’m all for paying youngsters more and the Arte Moreno’s of the world can be investing much more, but the rays, reds, pirates of the world can not do what the Mets or dodgers are doing. Something needs to change, like four years ago.

Here’s an example of what I’d like to see that I suspect would result in more money for players while also fixing competitive imbalances,… a salary floor somewhere in the neighborhood of 130 to 150 and a cap in the neighborhood of 300. Obviously giving a hand full of years for teams to adjust payroll accordingly,… Something along those lines,… then we can talk about another major pet peeve of mine that I suspect will be much less popular,… the recent rules changes changes to base running, pitch clocks, extra innings and more,…
Most of these teams are not trying. It was one thing when the A's and Rays were competing with shoe string budgets during the early part of the Moneyball revolution. The big market clubs went out and hired those guys too. Andrew Friedman makes an error in player evaluation with Tampa, that's heavily magnified. He does it with the Dodgers, barely anyone notices.

The rule changes are what they are. They went with large bases, pitch clocks and other gimmicking to try to lure the rubes. Try marketing your players and reaching younger audiences the way they consume product.

Then make them try while also preventing a group of the same exact three teams being the only ones ever realistically tied to every top free agent for the end of all time,… we can chew gum and walk at the same time

IMO they should address the low hanging fruit first. The local TV revenue is out of whack b/c obviously a sports network in LA or NYC is gonna have revenue advantages over mid-sized markets. That’s less MLBPA vs Owners and more Owners vs Owners. Dodgers declared bankruptcy in 2012. Selig cut them too much of a break regarding their revenue share payments b/c the league didn’t want the Dodgers going under. In hindsight, it was too generous. Dodgers were a laughing stock up until 2020 so let’s not act like they’re all what’s wrong w/ baseball. Again, I can agree their SportsNet LA revenue is really what separates them from the rest. I don’t have a problem with reconfiguring how they divide that to level the playing field.

Floor, no cap. Salary cap is a non starter.

Get a competent commissioner. Someone not connected to Selig, Manfred. Not a lapdog bootlicker for the owners either.

Shorten the 162 game regular season. Start in mid April, World Series champion by mid October. March to November in this American culture? Good luck. Attention span and intelligence of gnats.

International Players should be part of the draft.

Increase revenue sharing.

Reduce rookie control.

Leverage technology and marketing to actually let people know who your superstars are and introduce them while they are young. Embrace the third screen.

Involve the minor leagues and experiment marketing, rule changes, etc. during their season.
Bring back the double header, and not that day night double header crap.

Oh I’m well aware of your hatred of the Dodgers. I’ve been a diehard Dodgers fan since 1977. Got the fandom from my pops as he grew up a Brooklyn Dodgers fan (also where I got my ND fandom). I’ve forgotten more about the Dodgers than most fans know about their respective favorite team. Hell, I probably know more about Angels history than most Angels fans.

For some of these MLB owners, winning isn't in THEIR top five. To suggest fans don't care is pretty ridiculous. That's a level of tone deaf and out of touch fully admitted out loud.
