Idc what happened with Keeley during his recruitment, I'll be definitely rooting for his success after that interview. Seems like such a genuinely good soul
The way I see it, he had an opportunity to go play under Nick Saban. Yeah, he loved Notre Dame and Freeman but he didn't know yet how elite of a coach Freeman is but Nick Saban is the GOAT and he was calling. I think any recruit would need to give that some serious consideration, but I'm glad he's making the best of his second opportunity.

Maybe or you could take the cynical view that an “uncle” came out of nowhere to negotiate a bag at Bama & playing for Saban was the cherry on top. Now that NIL is here & Saban is gone (coincidence?), Kelley can now come full circle and hopefully make the best of a change of scenery.

What's our hit rate with Canadian prospects? Claypool was awesome but feel like we get a fair amount of Canadians and can't think of any others who have hit.
I would think of the "hit rate" more in terms of how the players are ranked coming out of high school, more so than where they come from.

Armel Mukam was a 3 star project that ND has grown from a 250lb linebacker / defensive end in high school, into defensive tackle. He was never a guy that was going to contribute early and was always going to need major development.

Sean Sevillano was another 3 star project out of high school and the dude has struggled with his weight and overall conditioning the entire time he's been on campus.

Devan Houston was a fringe 4 star player and I think it's safe to say that to this point he's been an outright bust.

Blake Herbert was a 4 star and is still TBD, although it's most likely that he's recruited over and winds up transfering, IMO.

Will Black was a 5 star and seems to get rave reviews. Many people think he'll either start in 2026 or be the first guy off the bench. TBD on this one but he's trending up.

Chase Claypool was a bonafide stud during his time as ND. Enough said there.

So a couple 3 stars have basically performed as expected (depth contributors), one 4 star was a bust, one was a stud and one is TBD. One 5 star is trending in the right direction. I think that ratio seems to be about right of you look at any sample size and ignore where the specific players are from.

I think there is a genuine chance that before their careers are over it winds up like this...

Claypool: Stud
Black: Stud
Hebert: Starting QB, but not at ND
Mukam: 2-deep Contributor
Sevillano: Fringe Contributor
Houston: Bust
