I take it he played higher competition as a sr? Classes are different throughout the country so just asking.

I like him a lot, has star potential. I just don't like him in the 26 class. Just my opinion...
We all have opinions but.... here is what you're comparing:

26 vs 27
College experience vs high school experience
Learning a new system vs delaying and continuing in his current system
College strength training vs high school strength training
Year round training resources at ND vs. whatever he was doing on his own dime
NLI/College payment while being developed vs. delaying for another year

Outside of "he needs to be in the heat of a real game", I don't know how you could view this as a negative. This is an overwhelming victory for ND to get him in early and I think it's the best option for the athlete given our depth chart and his ability to absorb while watching how Carr prepares/goes about his business.

None of that is lost on me. I just like the idea of a guy having another year to mature in HS, then come in (maybe as an EE) and if needed sit for a year.

It's also not lost on me that in my scenario, we would likely need a Portal QB to fill the gap after CJ goes 1st overall.

Meanwhile the QB for Tenn was just granted a TRO to stay w the Vols for what would be his 8th yr in college. Where does that end?

I would rather guys stay in high school too. Go enjoy your senior year and enjoy being homecoming king and prom and all that jazz. But I guess this is the choice he made. Guessing he wants an opportunity to get there and show himself worthy of being CJ's heir.

I think he saw the guys ahead of him and thought he might get stuck behind them if CJ leaves after this season.

I get it though. But I think in this situation, it's best for all parties.
And thankfully for us, there isn't a spring transfer portal, so whoever loses the battle will stick around as a backup for 2027 before leaving that next winter
