Kind of BS they don’t have a required TAT for a situation where the guy otherwise needs to hire an agent and try to go UDFA route.

Per ISD, Onye's camp wants to go to the NFL if possible but NFL would like to see another year (duh).

2021 RS
2022 1 game on 11/19.
'23,'24,'25 all count

Unless there was an injury in one of those 1st 2 years. I don't think there's much of a chance.
*and there shouldn't be.

Have you not seen the shit the NCAA ac as let slide with players coming back?
Oh I agree. By rule he shouldn’t. I wonder if other teams submit it differently or in a disingenuous way, create an injury that didn’t exist?

The only hope is if he’s a groundbreaking case to set a new precedent in counting mental health as an “injury”. I think that would be a good thing regardless of how it helps ND

This should be presented as an inevitable outcome and the right time to set that precedent is immediately.

Yes. A waiver could still be issued, although it seems unlikely. There might be a scenario where the NCAA wants to appear sensitive to mental health issues and could increase the chances that Onye gets a waiver.
And ND, if they really wanted to push it, could find a way to circulate this to create pressure but I doubt they will.

Yeah, this waiver is getting passed. There's zero chance the NCAA tempt fate with something as sensitive as mental health.

That is a can of worms that would best remain unopened.

I find your complete lack of consideration for the NCAA's historical handling of all things Notre Dame disturbing.

“Of those, 25 cases cited an incapacitating injury (nine in football). The NCAA approved 15 of those (six in football), and all 15 provided medical documentation from the time of the injury.”

Imo, key difference here is:
“Additionally, the student-athlete’s prior school indicated it had no documentation on medical treatment, injury reports or medical conditions involving the student-athlete during that time frame and cited “developmental needs and our team’s competitive circumstances” as its reason the student-athlete did not play in the 2022-23 season.”

Onye was playing before his mental health struggles, which would indicate medical cause for his inability to play.

My thoughts too. I don’t know the story but reading between the lines it was a mental battle. I assume he was struggling before he stopped playing and thus playing “injured”. As long as the university can show he was getting help while playing, and it became too much so he stopped, I don’t see how the NCAA can deny.
