Strong is a great option, as are the kids from BC and Georgia Tech.

Marsh is a good player, but this is losing out on “good P4 starter” and not the second coming of Julio Jones.
I suspect an eventual top 60 pick type. Not going to downplay Marsh, I think he's pretty darn good. But I think there are other NFL Draft Pick types on the board. Maybe not top 60 picks, but guys that aren't too far behind.

Unless the staff has something up their sleeve, there’s not a WR of the same caliber as Fields/Marsh on the radar.

ND has the QB and just made MF an even richer man. Let’s not get shy when it comes to acquiring CFP level talent, please.
Dude you’ve become quite a bedwetter. You’ve been around for a long time and have tons of negativity towards the program now. What’s your proof ND got shy w Marsh? The kid didn’t even bother to visit South Bend. Put your big boy pants on.

overrated anyway. Did not want.

Ian Strong, come on down! I really can’t imagine choosing a school with no QB yet vs playing with CJ Carr unless their offer was enormous
Hoover, TCU QB, was also there. Everyone has him the next IU QB. Marsh probably knows

There’s like 8 Fields level names available

I think you and I have a very different opinion of how good Fields was/is. Really good, solid, boundary WR, but a solid notch below Chase Claypool, who is a nothing behind some of the dudes Ohio State has been field.

Simply out, I think a guy like Isiah Cannion or Ian Strong are closer to a Nick Marsh than Malachi Fields was to a guy like Jeremiah Smith.

My point is that Fields, Marsh, Canion and Strong are all bonafide P4 boundary WRs, but none of them is / was a game changer.

I don’t have any proof. I believe Marsh is a top 50 talent (NFL draft wise). I was hoping ND would get aggressive and land an Alpha for Carr. It can still happen, obviously.

I don’t think I’ve been negative towards the program. I think they’re in a great spot!

I think you're projection is probably pretty spot on. I have him as a top 60 guy. I think there are guys out there that could go 20-30 picks behind him with a great year in South Bend, playing with CJ Carr. All things being equal would I rather have Marsh? Yes. Do I think the drop off is substantial to some other guys? No.

It's a huge, huge loss but Indiana is the new hotness and they have money to spend. They really did not spend that much in the portal to assemble the current team.
What would you say they have that our program doesn't when it comes to evaluation? They don't have a longstanding reputation. I'm fascinated that Coogan was picked up by IU and it being a huge hit for them. Is this really a Cig vs Freeman scenario?

Strong is closer to Fields, contested catch classic boundary target stylistically. Marsh is not quite the catch radius but better YAC potential. IMO they are the same general tier. NFL player but not Day 1 like Coleman.

Would prefer Canion over both.

WR & DT continue to evade us!

Not even getting Marsh on campus is bizarre.. we can only hope Indiana struggles to replicate their success but who knows.

I think it’s a shock only bc “insiders” kept telling us he’s solid ND lean & all that clickbait shit.

Losing Love, Price, Raridon & Fields is a massive hit to this offense & really the only bright spot coming up is Williams in the backfield. I really hope Kedren comes back healthy.

We barely had interior D linemen to begin with this year & now it’s basically in emergency mode.

Micah & Cam at the X is.. underwhelming at best. Faison & Jaden I’m 100% confident in but we need a big name to step in out wide as we’re not likely to have the same amount of production on the ground next year.

DT is an absolute nightmare.. if Onye is denied we’re in trouble. You’re talking about Hughes, Mullins, Sevillano.. Sulfstead? Dixon? And the incoming recruits.. My God 🤮

I’m sure the staff feels the pressure now so we’ll see how they counter

When you take transfers you can see in advance how good they are. It wasn't like nobody at ND knew Coogan was good.

The kicker ND thought they had locked up is no longer entering the portal, per Eric Thomas. Now you can commence your bed wetting
The nice thing is that there are 136 starting kickers in college football. Probably 100 of them are probably returning if you remove graduates from the equation. If you're Notre Dame you just have to lure one from their current team, into a superior situation. I'm confident they'll get a guy here that will upgrade the position considerably from last year. Will they get a star? Hard to say. Will they get a guy that's at least reliably above average? Almost definitely.

I'm pretty confident ND will get a bonafide boundary WR that is better than anyone on their roster. I'm also fairly confident thay they'll upgrade at TE if they can get the right guy. I also suspect that they're going to take another rotational WR to add to the mix. If for argument sake the starting offense next year was the following, would it be the best offensive unit in college football? No, but it would be plenty competitive in support of what could be a top 5 defense.

QB: CJ Carr
RB: Aneyas Williams
WR: Ian Strong
WR: Jordan Faison
Slot: Jaden Greathouse
TE: Brody Foley or Cooper Flanagan
LT: Anthonie Knapp
LG: Charles Jagusah
C: Ashton Craig
RG: Guerby Lambert
RT: Will Black

Losing a single player of desire in the portal does not make or break an entire season lol. There are guys out there that produced big numbers in offenses led by average to bad QBs. I'd be happy to give one of those guys a shot with CJ Carr to see what kind of damage they can do.

I'm fascinated that people who are so into a college football team that they spend time posting on a message board continue to have this take on Coogan. Nobody at ND missed on his evaluation. Coogan wanted to start. ND wasn't going to guarantee him a starter role because Craig was and is a better center. IU needed a starting center. Coogan went to IU. The end.
