Probably doesn’t happen if IU lost the Rose Bowl.

Program changing win. and ND should have had a chance to change it

True, but with an asterix of one particular improved team who beat them last year in the playoffs noticeably absent.
I'm just saying to say the kid doesn't want to go to class because he is transferring to the number one team in the country is an crazy assumption. I could care less about IU I am not a fan of them in the slightest but to take a shot at a kid is insnae

We don't know whether he wanted to go to class or not, but he apparently didn't want to wait long enough to visit ND. That sounds to me like he wasn't really interested in ND.

I agree with you. No need to take shots at him for academics. It's classless. (No pun intended.) I think it's okay to look at it competitively though. I think our program is a bigtime opportunity for receivers with CJ at the helm.

Herbstreit mentioned on the Rose Bowl broadcast that all of Mendoza's classes are online, so he basically doesn't have schoolwork and can spend all his time watching film. I don't think that is possible at ND.

That's just an irreconcilable piece of ND. Very few of these high profile players looking for a one year deal are going to care about education, and the school isn't going to accommodate the way that the football factories will, especially for the undergrads. That consortium idea with Holy Cross sounds like a great idea...

Riley Leonard didn't come here to play school either he left with no degree. So taking shots at him about class work is lame
We don't the reason. But yeah, as far as I know you can't take only online classes at ND for any degree program, whether or not you get your degree.

I’m sure they pushed him with the old your spot won’t be here in a few days tactic.

Obviously, we weren’t the only team that missed here but to not even get a visit is pretty embarrassing.

I used to like to have the last visit but in the age of nil I feel like we've done better with the first visit

Props to Indiana for getting it done! Tough loss for ND as he was our top WR boundary WR option.

Moving on to Ian Strong! Excellent player in his own right.

They are playing the game better than ND right now, ND and the staff need to step it up
This is the new college football in 2026. We were once afraid of Ohio State and Alabama… now we are competing with Indiana for players. Insane.

Why are we making up that this has anything to do with school?

He visited IU first, they offered money, they just trounced Bama in the Rose Bowl, he committed.

Because a lot of ND people like to claim that certain guys are just a "bag chaser" or don't care about school, if they don't come to ND. "He probably wasn't a culture fit anyways."
It's very BRIAN KELLY-ESQUE.

I gotta feeling the kid/agent tried to flex their muscles talking money and we told them they have to get on campus to continue the conversation and this is what is turned into. Maybe wrong, probably wrong but that's my instincts

I'm not taking shots at all. Just positing a theory. If I was a 20 year old and was about to get drafted in the NFL, I wouldn't really give a fuck about sitting in Theology 101 either.
I have always thought the going to class part of ND was/will be a major sticking point for a lot of these guys. Not the end all, be all, but a significant factor.
