I will once again bring up my proposal to utilize NCAA rule 20.1.2 to form an athletics consortium with Holy Cross. That would allow people enrolled at Holy Cross to play on Notre Dame sports teams. That way we wouldn't have to worry about getting through the individual academic colleges' transfer process or worry about recruits we get on late not having all their admissions requirements in order.

From Stanford's website

In order to graduate, undergraduates must complete the following General Education Requirements:

  • Civic, Liberal, and Global Education (COLLEGE) Requirement
  • Ways of Thinking, Ways of Doing (Ways) Requirement
  • Writing and Rhetoric Requirement
  • Language Requirement

Now compare that to ND .... LOL.

The bigger issue is that we need ND to change their viewpoint that virtually all transfers are expected to graduate after 4 Academic school years.
I wonder what the deal with Riley Leonard was. He lost a lot of credits from Duke and did not graduate from ND and wouldn’t have graduated even if he had stayed for another semester (4 years of college.)

My guess, and it's just a guess, is that they can get quite a few undergrads, who aren't just 1 year out of HS, through Admissions if they're coming from an elite academic institution (Duke, Stanford, Northwestern, and perhaps even Vandy).

As Seek said, we didn’t take his credits though. So if we rejected his credits anyways, it wouldn’t make sense to care he was from Duke.

He also then took theater while he was here. Leonard didn’t come to play school, and ND made it such.

These guys all follow each other on social media, put out the feelers. How much for Jeremiah Smith? Only half joking
Absolutely they should do this, and hopefully already do. Best case scenario you land a stud, in the neutral case scenario you might life more challenging on your opponent by forcing them to commit even.m
Two more:
Dean’s List(!), Grad, NFL brothers, 1st team All AAC

1st team all MAC, 2xAcademic All MAC, Wayne HS, 8.5 sacks and 12.5 TFLs
How did he grade against the P4 teams they played? I’m skeptical about guys like this after the Madden experience

Here's my take on what we need:

QB - probably the toughest to find, but ideally a guy with some experience who has the self-awareness to realize he's not a pro prospect, but wants a world class MBA and to be part of something special.

WR - big body/contested catch/Fields type. Just one IMO. Retain Greathouse and trust that someone from the younger crop will emerge as solid WR4 and WR5 types.

TE - given our goal line and short yardage issues this year, I'd grab a blocking specialist. Should come cheap and can play special teams.

WDE/Vyper - losing Junior and Botelho, and Thomas can't seem to gain weight, so I'd grab a depth guy and whatever you get from Dunham is gravy.

DE/5-Tech - depends on where they see Burgess - if inside, I'd pursue a big end/tweener type

DT (2) - I view this as a multi-year problem, so I'd specifically target one grad transfer and pay up for someone with more than one year of eligibility.

Nickel - depth/competition for Golden

Duke credits aren't good enough for ND? Good grief.

Not sure how credit transfers work from Monsters University, but I bet Mike still has some eligibility left.

From what I understand is that the high academic accolades is from their grad schools and the undergraduate college of The Pratt School of Engineering whereas the vast majority of undergraduates go to Duke's Trinity College of Arts & Sciences.

QB - sure
WR - I think you grab the deadliest weapon available. Field, boundary, slot - it doesn't matter with the caveat that if they are equally rated, our needs are probably boundary, field, slot. We have a lot of potential in that WR room now and some of them will emerge.
TE - agreed
WDE/Vyper - tricky given the depth and funds available. Top DEs are expensive and we have a few who should challenge.
SDE/5-tech - see above
DT - SPEND for at least one massive disruptor. Hopefully a few of our guys have breakout springs. There are a lot of players I'm high on in this room and the SDE room that could emerge.
Nickel - I thought there was a strong chance we'd have Devonta Smith back as well?

Should start colluding and take every good player off these playoff teams immediately. Malachi Toney what are you making in NIL right now? Cool. We’ll quadruple it if you decide and leave before your next game. Give me about 10 of these.

I believe it's more a function of there needs to be an equivalent course at ND. In addition, and with the caveat that I haven't looked in a while, but ND also used to mandate that certain courses be taken at ND in certain situations, so that wasn't just a transfer credit issue, it also applied to AP course credits.

What's the expectation from our team on who may want out? And is there a timeline for when that will occur?

I could see Wagner, Williams, Greathouse, Sneed, a safety or 2, maybe another reciever or 2, potentially. Are there any other impact guys that we are on high alert about?

The window is January 2-16. Players can of course enter the Portal, or make their intentions known before then, as we saw with Minchey. To your first question, the only player we all expected to enter was Minchey. Everyone else is just speculation either do to usage (A. Williams), more NIL (Wagner) or other circumstances (Greathouse).

Sneed is not a transfer candidate, he's an NFL candidate. Before the season, if you read between the lines, he almost but all said he would leave for the NFL after this season, and after he got his degree.

For most of the impact guys, the portal is not the issue - it's the NFL. Can you convince Sneed to return? Schrauth? Price? Shuler?

I do believe Sneed is going to blow up the combine and will probably get drafted but does anybody think a guy who was never really a starter here is going to be taken before day 3?

Honestly, if Sneed would be taken in the sixth round, I feel like he would be okay with that. He wants to start his NFL career.

I've wondered if Kyng getting seriously injured changes Sneed's view on how he'd be used in 2026.

Pretty hilarious we are getting “schools to watch” type reports for portal entries. They can’t enter the portal for almost a month. This sport is so beyond fucked right now
Unless their coach has left and based on the Coaches Carousel thread that should open up some options.
