The CCG should no longer exist, but it does, and if you're gonna think like old 4-team BCS system where the CCG games were feeders in to the 4-team playoff and a loss then almost certainly killed a losing team's chances to move on (i.e., more or less a quarterfinal kind of game), then certainly a 2-loss team losing the CCG and becoming a 3-loss team knocks them out of the CFP for damn sakes.

And as a few have said here, if they're gonna suddenly go full-season thinking and resume to knock out ND due to the GAME 1 loss to Miami, then why the hell aren't they looking at 'bama's ridiculous game 1 beat down by FSU? How about some damn congruency and not this duplicitous CCG thinking?
