me three, after that committee tool said that it was a factor in moving them above us.I've thought of that, too.

Nothing about this process is logical. The committee's gonna do what it wants to do, and it's anybody's guess what that'll beYeah, I don't get this logic at all.
ND, as is, is seen by the committee to have a superior resume to both BYU and Miami. Whether people agree or not is irrelevant.
But both ND and Miami are idle. For them nothing changes. So the resumes remain stagnant, and ND would still have to be considered the better team for the 12 team playoff. The committee chair going on Golic and essentially say that right now ND is the better team is pretty telling. You can't walk that back, because neither team plays next week. There's no new shocking developments that can change.
Duke winning probably wouldn't be a good idea, because it would force the playoff committee to put an ACC team in for a "representation", in which they'd likely make Miami jump us.I hope Duke wins, fuck the ACC.
I still believe if Alabama loses somewhat badly (14+) and BYU also loses, the committee won’t stick their neck out for Alabama and they will put both Miami and Notre Dame in.God forbid Bama beats UGA and ends up 4th with a bye after losing to FSU 🤦🏻
It doesn't force anything. No one except for (some) ACC schools give a fuck about the ACC.Duke winning probably wouldn't be a good idea, because it would force the playoff committee to put an ACC team in for a "representation", in which they'd likely make Miami jump us.
Not really at all. Most are just annoyed at ND’s schedule. I say that as one who truthfully believes ND is a top 3 team. The more I think about this, the more I realize ND is actually starting to scare the big conferences. Freeman is building a program quite unique in an era of mercenary p2p college football. If ND wins a national title it would undercut the paradigm shift towards superconferences, while invalidating the "it just means more" mantra of the SEC/ESPN media complex.
I tend to agree. And honestly this is the best outcome. Notre Dame and Miami both deserve a spot ahead of Bama, especially if Bama loses by multi scores in the SECCG.I still believe if Alabama loses somewhat badly (14+) and BYU also loses, the committee won’t stick their neck out for Alabama and they will put both Miami and Notre Dame in.
Thats what a lot of people are saying, I just have this feeling Bama is in regardless. And I don't know why.I still believe if Alabama loses somewhat badly (14+) and BYU also loses, the committee won’t stick their neck out for Alabama and they will put both Miami and Notre Dame in.
Alabama can’t run the ball. Alabama also isn’t great at run defense. They may be good enough to win a game and Ty Simpson is playing well, but they aren’t a threat to make a run. That’s just me…Thats what a lot of people are saying, I just have this feeling Bama is in regardless. And I don't know why.
I went to the Bama/Uga game earlier this year and Bama (and UGA if I'm being honest) was just blah to me. Then I went to the Texas/UGA game a few weeks ago....and UGA looked like a completely different team...mainly because of Gunner....so my point to all that is UGA shouldn't lose to Bama Sat.
Ok I just don’t see a three loss non conference champ losing to the team who was previously their resume builder gets in above us. Let’s just get on with both bama and byu losing and get this BS over with. Still don’t know why TT doesn’t get knocked out with two losses. Who did they beat? BYU and then they come back and erase their marquee win with a loss. I don’t GAS about not allowing championship game participation to impact your rating. You lose a game you drop in the ratings. They should just 86 these BS championship games and open the playoffs to 16 teams. No gang of 5 team unless they are undefeated. No 3 loss team gets in unless they are conference champ. Eliminate the divisions 2 games from the schedules. If you want an extra bye week then figure it out.
Being punished by getting dropped and moving for teams that won the conference aren't the same.I don’t think you know what patently false means. They all dropped. You can justify it if you would like, but they all dropped. You also excluded Iowa State.
There really isn't any incentive for Ohio State or Indiana. Alabama at least has the shot at a first round BYE, rather than playing on the road.Yup. What incentive does Alabama get from playing it? If you’re Ohio State and Indiana, shit, I’m playing walk ons and resting my starters. The landscape and format has changed. The conferences need to change with it.
Being punished by getting dropped and moving for teams that won the conference aren't the same.
That isn't justification. It's simply a fact.
Same happened to Iowa State, they lost and Clemson won, so Clemson jumped ahead of them.
They weren't punished for losing, but the teams behind them were rewarded for winning. That's how it works.
I'm speaking in terms of the situation with BYU/Alabama. Last year, the teams that "dropped" fell behind teams that won. The pecking order changed. If Alabama or BYU win, that pecking order will also change. That isn't punishment, it's that teams that win their conference have to be rewarded and prioritized accordingly. But if BYU wins and is rewarded, then ND is almost certainly out.
The point is that by the own committees logic, they will reward conference winners, but not punish conference losers. If they want to change that stance, they can. But that logic better be uniform across the board. If BYU is punished for losing, then Alabama must also be punished for losing.
Teams that lost last year in their CCG dropped but not behind an at large. Both dropped right in front of us in the rankings.I never said BYU will be punished as you’re making this a debate on adjectives to avoid the simple fact that every team dropped after they lost last year. Can it be explained? Sure! You are saying BYU won’t drop. Great! Hopefully they don’t. But this constant fitting of rules that’s you’ve invented is just silly.
Was that Twain? I love Twain. Just finished Huck Finn and its the best book I've read in ages. Some consider Twain the first stand up comedian. He once travelled to Australia and came to Newcastle which is where I live. He was born the year Haley's comet was here and died the year of the next time it was here.Mark Twain said there were lies
then DAMN LIES
then statistics
As far as brands go North Texas (sounds huge) SOUNDS a lot better than Tulane (which sounds like a sleepy highway). But because Tulane has the future SEC coach and is a better brand then North Texas, they get the path cleared for them.
Agreed. It looked obvious as to why they put Bama in a safe spot rankings-wise. They knew they couldn’t leave Bama out two years in a row. Yuracek‘s weak reasoning all but told us as much. Zero chance Bama gets left out b/c they beat UGA in the regular season in Athens so it’ll be like 2000 when ND beat Clemson but got blown out in the CCG by Clemson yet still made the 4-team CFP. I could even see them using that as an example.Thats what a lot of people are saying, I just have this feeling Bama is in regardless. And I don't know why.

Georgia will probably get up by 21 in the 3rd and then go soft and Bama get within 10.
7 of those were in the Saban years. Different times.I guess … Alabama is 8-1 agains them in the past 10 years …
Fun fact, Tulane actually has more SEC titles than Ole Miss. Tulane was once a pretty big deal, at least relatively. I think it's a better job and a better school than North Texas. As far as brands go North Texas (sounds huge) SOUNDS a lot better than Tulane (which sounds like a sleepy highway).
I've seen Georgia in a few games and unfortunately they don't stand out as some dominant team. For example, if memory serves me right, they were on the ropes for the majority of the Tennessee game then somehow pulled it out. In fact that seemed to be their MO, to look sloppy and then find a way to win. Even the Texas game was close for 3 quarters.Georgia will probably get up by 21 in the 3rd and then go soft and Bama get within 10.
