I think they're doing this so that they can drop BYU after they lose to Texas Tech and then leapfrog Miami over ND for last spot. Only explanation for Bama moving up for struggling with 5-7 Auburn.

They could have just dropped BYU a spot and done it this week then.

They are gonna say it’s the A&M loss

Honestly, not that overly upset about it.
#10 spot is a cleaner path to title game then #8 or #9.
Likely (7) seed is A&M or Ole Miss.
We will be at minimum a 2 point road favorite against either team.
Plus we get Indiana as likely (3) seed if they lose to Ohio State.

Also, likely avoid being on the same side of the bracket from possibly the (2) best teams in the country right now.
Ohio State (1)
Oregon (5)

The obvious concern now is that if BYU loses, then will the committee have Miami jump us.
It would be odd since neither team will have played again, but certainly will be the biggest national talking point.

I know people don’t agree with this. And I know what the committee has said but this is setting up ND to get passed by Miami IMO
Is it an actual rule that the order of teams that aren't playing can't change at this point? Or just a practice that might change? Because yeah, it seems like this is the setup for that.

When ND was ahead of Bama a few weeks ago, I said it was the committee planning ahead for 3 loss Bama to not make it. Well fuck me thinking they had enough foresight for that. They seemingly did it at random and now realized they don’t want that.

Yup, be prepared for more disappointment on Sunday.

My lady wife is not going to be happy at the Hampton Inn Oxford Mississippi leading up to Christmas.

We need to light ALL the candles this week for Texas Tech.

I disagree on the Miami bit - they had the ammo they needed to move them up this week with Miami's destruction of a common opponent in Pitt in a game that had real implications for both teams. They would have done it this week if they were going to do it. To do it when we're both idle would be truly insane

But clearly it's impossible to rationalize what this committee believes/will do, so guess I shouldn't even try

For everyone thinking they’ll put Miami on top of us on Sunday with a BYU loss answer me this.

We’ve already been compared directly Miami. Why isn’t the order Miami, BYU, Notre Dame?

Why would they rank us higher now? On what merit would Miami jump us after doing nothing?

Being next to each other is no different than being in the same grouping & being directly compared.

Bama is in regardless and the odds always showed that 😜
Yeah I mean it's very clear from Bama going to -3000 yesterday that they are leaking like a siv. There is no logic behind the SEC log jam at 6 through 9 but if we somehow get in (doubt it) I would love to be away from the Ohio State part of the bracket.

They made this move so that Bama doesn't get boxed out when they lose to Georgia.

Need to move back to a computer formula. Everyone would know in advance how much different events matter. Do we benefit from winning by 28 instead of 21? Does 9-3 against a better schedule rank you higher than 10-2 against a weaker schedule? Etc. We wouldn't have (literal) politicians lobbying a computer, either.
