On a "school night" no less. You fought the good fight, did much better than Ii made it through the 17th, but it was past 2:30 am, and I didn’t see any end insight. If only I waited a little bit longer.
As a Phils fan, it's pretty damn easyI just can't not like Freddie Freeman.
Dodgers might be the most likeable dynastic team I can ever remember.I just can't not like Freddie Freeman.
I'm not going that far.Dodgers might be the most likeable dynastic team I can ever remember.
I said the same exact thing when the Tigers/Mariners had their 15 inning marathon in the decisive game 5. We don't need postseason games going until 2AM.Now folks realize why MLB instituted putting a man on 2B in extra innings. Smoltz was spot on…practically every batter is trying to end the game w/ one swing. That leads to tons of pop outs & long fly outs. The one exception was Edman’s leadoff double. Roberts’ had Rojas bunt him over to 3B w/ one out. Smoltz had me convinced Roberts was going w/ safety squeeze. Made sense considering who was batting. Instead Call hits a weak ass pop up to SS. Pissed me off. On the bright side I’m glad Schneider didn’t walk Ohtani every AB b/c had he done that Toronto probably wins in regulation.
After last night I tend to agree. Everything revolves around the long ball so you can’t expect teams to change their stripes in the post season. I’m surprised Toronto couldn’t manufacture any runs that whole time as they were a team that rarely strikes out & were excellent at putting the ball in play.I said the same exact thing when the Tigers/Mariners had their 15 inning marathon in the decisive game 5. I'd be all for keeping the rule in the postseason. I understand why sports like the MLB and NHL do away with their regular season OT rules to end the games in a timely manner, but it's also not helping the bottom line if you are losing viewers on a weeknight.
I totally get that many might disagree with me, but the 2nd base rule works well in the regular season. It's not like it's a foregone conclusion that somebody is scoring. It brings the sacrifice bunt into play, intentional walks, etc. Plenty of strategy to still implement with it. Just get the game over < 1 hour in extras for crying out loud.
I dont want it in playoffs. It's rare that it comes into play and those games go down in lore. I believe I watched a college hockey playoff game go like 5 OT's. At least with hockey, I dont think you can/should tinker with the playoff rules. The alternatives are shootouts (stupid way to decide a winner) and playing 4 on 4 or 3 on 3 which almost always favors one team over the other.I said the same exact thing when the Tigers/Mariners had their 15 inning marathon in the decisive game 5. I could see them (at some point) adopting what they did for ASG this season. After a couple of extra innings, each manager chooses 3 players in HR Derby fashion. Whoever hits the most wins. I type that tongue in cheek b/c MLB is so obsessed w/ HRs & I get it, most casual fans only want to see the long ball.I dont want it in playoffs. But for regular season, it is absolutely great to adopt rules to get the game wrapped up in a timely fashion. They play a million games anyway.
Yeah, I'm not advocating for changing it, I'm fine leaving it alone. I'm just pointing out that there's a middle ground between the regular season extra innings set up and the postseason traditional set up.Or you just leave it alone...
Oh yeah, I’m dragging ass right now.On a "school night" no less. You fought the good fight, did much better than I
same. I feel like I’m at a national sales meeting where I stayed up too late the night prior & now I have to navigate meetings & presentations bleary eyed & groggy.Oh yeah, I’m dragging ass right now.
Toronto (sadly) is America's team rn

Bunch of gerbertsPeople from Toronto are generally insufferable so I'm sure if they really knew about us they would not cheer for the Jays.
Dodgers still can’t hit yet won. WTH? If they’re going to insist on striking out every AB, they just put off the inevitable b/c Yamamoto can’t pitch tomorrow.
It was actually called correctly according the rulebook. You can debate that it's a bad rule, but it was not a bad ruling. The ground roll double call was flat out BS. Another example of terrible umpiring.
