Thinking about when Utah basketball got three years of probation from the NCAA because Rick Majerus bought one of his players a cheeseburger.

I hear about that every winter. Punishment like this for Utah, but nothing for UNC. One of many reasons I'm so happy the NCAA is fighting the closing darkness.

From what I remember, the coach bought him a cheeseburger either at the airport or bus terminal as a warm gesture as the kid was returning home due to a death in the family.

Majerus was, by all accounts, a pretty good dude. Had to make sure that was punished.

No, it was because he had written a book in which he had admitted cheating as a student. Malloy was a perfect human being and wouldn’t allow it.

That’s too bad. I generally root for guys who transfer, especially if it’s for playing time reasons.

when i was there w/ my kid for a visit, one of the analyst said to me about how disappointed they were in what they got vs what they thought they were getting...this was back in June
