My premise wasn’t that ND isn’t paying players you’re wrong, I doubt this info. Like I said, I agreed with most of both your and Mercke’s post. I asked a follow up that did poke at a timeframe. All of my other posts on NIL will clearly show I wasn’t questioning NDs current involvement in NIL.

In the end Mercke and I had what a 2 post back and forth and went separate ways? Really wasn’t a big deal and he was back posting after. I don’t know what to say if anyone thinks someone waking up and deciding hey you’re a useless asshole who was rude and out of line wasn’t going to make this worse than it should have been. This was dead and buried until it wasn’t, and I’m not the one who brought it back.

3 thoughts on the subject

1. Losing the insider information really sucks and is going to seriously put a damper on discussions.

2. People abused the absolute shit of having him here asking way too many questions, way too simple questions and the same ones over and over again

3. Clearly we did have to pay for the privilege albeit not in cash but in pumping up Merkes ego. Guy clearly likes having his feet kissed and once he felt like he wasn’t being universally praised as the greatest thing since sliced bread he took his ball and went home

My concerns about an overly-rosy outlook being shared were exaggerated to highlight how it’s crazy to get offended about the very minimal pushback that was being provided.

I know you both have shared plenty of the not-so-good. It’s appreciated like everything else that’s shared.

I just think it’s natural to have questions about the “how/why/when” on some of the positive developments, and I’m bummed that Merck let it drive him away, considering how we treat each other around here most of the time. A lot of tough love and fun at each other’s expense

Well, gents, I REALLY hate losing this poster and his access however he gets it.

I'll take a little boasting if it doesn't get in the way of straight information --- who cares about the former?

I didn't really notice much ego in this anyway. Again, who cares as long as the information seems good?

Some on IE think that everyone's the same (usually the same as themselves.) They're not.

And therefore some would like more thanks for hard work put in, and no, if possible, climbing their frame.

The word "sensitivity" does not exist in the IE dictionary, I realize (do I ever), but maybe the word "wisdom" should.

Fair enough if you were doing it hyperbolically.

Might be a semantics thing as well but I think there is a difference between "pushback" in terms of clarifying information vs pushback being "not believing" information. Merckxe and I can only say so much without doxxing ourselves, our sources, and pissing off people. We can't really get into arguments about it and provide line by line proof. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Merckxe and I know each other and I texted him when he started posting here because he didn't know I was on the site so I had to let him know my handle so we generally have a pretty good idea of what we can or will post, he'll share some things I won't, I'll share some details he won't.

I can't speak for him here but some of the clarifying stuff seemed argumentative and I don't think he was interested in arguing the facts of the matter....and my frustration kind of stemmed from people having a simplistic view of recruiting re: NIL.

Boy this was a disappointing opening to the Sunday morning catch up. I mean I'm in agreement with those saying you don't have to believe it and if you don't there's plenty of other forums on here.

I didn't really care where he got the info. It was good info and was worth everything else that came with it. Way too many egos on the board that couldn't just let it be

The signs were there early: anytime someone questioned his omnipotence, there would be thinly veiled threats to take his ball and go home which, IMO, was a touch off-putting. We're (mostly) adults here and the idea of having kiss anyone's ass and dare not question them in order to get a peak behind the curtain is absolutely absurd. I'm sure he's a good dude, but he's also a diva. They are not mutually exclusive concepts.

When the pushback heat turned up on 247 to their typical levels (100x's what he would experience here, at least from what I saw), he ghosted them. But he was well entrenched here by then.

But not before saying... This will be Mike Brown's last year at ND with his final words.

Hope you stick around for the guys here. Losing Merck (if that's what just happened) is a blow, losing you both would be catastrophic.

I'm a firm believer that having less access to intel providers is a negative in the message board world.
